Ian's Review

The Stormont concert in Belfast was just absolutely tremendous. I'd previously seen the band in Earls Court on 10th June, but this performance was head and shoulders above the London gig. Could be that the guys were relaxed and chilled out after their 10 day break, but they genuinely enjoyed themselves thru the whole night.

Glenn kicked it off (after seven bridges road) by saying something like "finally we get to play Northern Ireland !". I had awesome seats, 3rd row slap bang in the middle, no more than 20-25ft from the stage. What threatened to be a very wet night (Stormont is an outside venue) turned out to be a wonderful sunny evening. I can't remember much about the details, but i know the guys really enjoyed the experience, for the lat 1hr all 18,000 people in the crowd were on their feet. Two things I do recall, Hotel California did not kick off the 2nd set (if was reserved for one of the encores), and also they played witchy woman.

Joes performance went down a treat, he really got the crowd going. At one point mid song he and Tim posed for someone taking piccys. At the end they stood arm and arm, clearly beaming into the crowd. Sound was magnificent, Stormont is an excellent natural theater. On a personal note, I did miss DF, especially on the nice slide guitar bits that he is known for, and it didn't seem right having a "stranger", playing all the famous guitar solos and licks that I assume Felder composed.

Eric's Review

June 29, 2001 a night over 20,000 people will never forget, because, at last, the Eagles had finally made to Belfast. The 3 hour show was superb with all the band members in fantastic form. Probably the biggest surprise of the night was the very first song, none of us had suspected the band to start the show with Seven Bridges Road, so from there onwards nothing surprised us. Steuart Smith was a good replacement for Don Felder, but I did miss Felder's unique playing style. As this was the band's first visit to Belfast I do sincerely hope they found the reception they got to their liking, and the fact that we sang just about every song with them word for word not too annoying. I thought you might like to hear from a fan who along with everyone else that I have spoken to since the concert still hasn't come down from the high we got on Friday night. Bye for now and I hope you get the same feeling we all got when the boys visit your home towns.

Colin's Review

Well I had the great pleasure of seeing The Eagles in Belfast last night and once again they totally wowwed me and my 2 friends with a magnificent show.

They started the show in what some would regard as an unusual show with "SEVEN BRIDGES ROAD", I have always liked this song so I enjoyed it. They then proceeded into what you might call the country half of the show before taking a small break and then coming out and ROCKING for an hour and a half - great!

Stuart Smith done quite a good job but he isn't Don Felder and I noticed Joe and Glenn doing a lot more guitar work than when I had seen them last in the RDS in Dublin in 1996. I'm afraid some of the licks just weren't there and it did detract a little from the show - but only a little because over all the show was superb.
