Vincent's Review

First of all, I would precise for those who don't remind that I've
already posted for the june 12th show I saw in London...which was brilliant......but then how to describe the Paris show I just come back from ???
FANTAAAAAAAASTIC !!!

The show took place in the biggest stage of France, the "Palais
Omnisport de Paris-Bercy", which was full at about 90% I think, what must mean about 15000 people there. A quick look into bags was done at the entry to prevent people from taking food and drinks with them, nothing against cameras...

The show began 5 min late, at 8.35 pm. Like usual I think, most of people wasn't there and I saw a lot of people arriving after 2,3 or even 6 songs !!! Too bad for them...Tim and Don were wearing black suits, Glenn black trousers with cream jacket and Joe a special sparkling camouflage jacket. Other musicians were in black, four on the brass with black hat and sunglasses.

First set turned as usual, a bit more acoustic than the second one, sound was good even if Tim's bass wasn't high-level enough (I hope you understand ; it wasn't loud enough, but it's unfortunately usual)

Boys were rather serious in this set, Glenn said "Bonsoir Paris" (Good evening Paris) before the 3rd song, Tim said "Merci beaucoup" (Thanks a lot) after his superb "Love will keep us alive" which was very applauded.

From my point of view, Randy Meisner missed a lot on "Take it to the Limit", I wonder if Tim shouldn't sing it better than Glenn ?
First set finished at 9.40 pm

Second set began at 10.02 pm with Witchy Woman (aaaargh I missed 2 first minutes I was trying to get drinks at the bar..)
Joe changed of jacket and wore a superb grey shirt with a mix of yellow dragons and flames. This set really kicked ass !!! I can't believe the atmosphere that was taking place there...

Tim was a second time very very applauded for his sooooooo magnificent "I can't tell you why" and Joe get the first standing ovation just after for his "Walk away"...

Don and Glenn then made two of their songs ; "Sunset grill" and "You belong to the city". It was evident that the crowd didn't really know them and atmosphere was getting a lil bit more quiet...it even seems that it's a hard work for Glenn to sing his song when he has to sing high (I'm sure Tim would sing it finely)

But what happened after didn't occur in London...The crowd then was getting crazy all the rest of the show Joe dedicated his "Life's been good" to Chet Atkins ; "This guy from Nashville has influenced a lot of other guitarists in the world..."

You should see people running from everywhere in the room to get near of the stage...Joe did the clown and had a lot of success with that. I've never seen ALL the Eagles relaxed like that ; on the next song (Dirty laundry) we could see the 4 Eagles jumping several times together with guitars in their hands, even Don was really laughing !And people was continuing running to the stage.... there were now about twenty meters (= ? feet) of standing/dancing people in the front of the stage (but barriers prevent people from going further, the nearest ones were almost at 7 meters from the stage, why ?...)

Big standing ovation for the Joe's "Funk 49" ; Joe was THE guy tonight !Set ended at 11.10 pm

After a 5 min break they came to do "Hotel California" with a saxophone intro. Another 2 min break and then Joe did "Rocky Mountain", waouw, superb, but  the talk box surprised a lot of people I think !Another 2 min break and they came for the last two songsThe show ended with "Desperado", and Don let the crowd sing a few sentences at the bitter end, really touching ! (snif !)He felt very very pleased, the guys thanked several times the crowd, they all had big smile on their face, Don said "Merci beaucoup Paris, à bientôt" (Thanks a lot Paris, see you soon).
We even saw Tim jumping down the stage to salute a few people in the front !It was 11.42 pm

It was reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally superb !!!I was there with my parents who didn't know very well the band, and they really enjoyed a lot the show, like me !I saw them twice now, but it's not finished !!! I found first class tickets today for the Belgian show of tomorrow (tonight !), then I decided to go one more time with my girlfriend to make her a surprise...hé hé hé it's gonna be a heartache tonight !

Mardi 3 juillet, nous sommes arrivés au concert vers 19 heures 30. Il nous a fallu attendre 1 heure avant que le concert puisse commencer, avant d'entrer dans le Palais Omnisports de Paris Bercy, mon papa m'a proposé d'acheter un maillot des EAGLES et j'ai refusé pensant que s'était un peu abusé. Nous sommes donc entrés et nous avions les toutes premières places. Rien que le fait de savoir d'être au premier rang m'a fait très plaisir. En attendant que le concert commence on a regardé le matériel des EAGLES. Les 4 micros étaient placés, et, on se demandait comment seraient placés les EAGLES. On les a donc placé comme dans le DVD "HELL FREEZES OVER".


A 20 heures 35, les lumières s'éteignent quatre ombres marchent sur le devant de la scène, quand tout d'un coup les lumières s'allument, pour la première fois je voyais le groupe en vrai, rien que cet instant a été magique. Les aigles ont commencé par "SEVEN BRIDGES ROAD", j'étais vraiment émerveillé.

Ils ont enchaîné par "THE LONG RUN" chanté par DON HENLEY, c'était vraiment super, sans compter que Don, nous a fait quelques pas de danse. A chaque fin de morceau la lumière s'éteignait puis les morceaux se sont enchaînés tous à la suite quand soudain TIMOTHY B.SCHMIT s'est mis au milieu de la scène et a chanté "LOVE WILL KEEP US ALIVE" qui est une de mes chansons préférées. Mes yeux étaient rivés sur Tim, il était super, j'étais vraiment émue. Les morceaux ont continué a s'enchaîner jusqu'au break. Des morceaux géniaux sont passés durant cette première partie tel que "NEW KID IN TOWN" chanté par GLENN FREY, "WASTED TIME" chanté par Don, "PEACEFUL EASY FEELING" également chanté par Glenn, "PRETTY MAIDS ALL IN A ROW" interprété par JOE WALSH ainsi que "BEST OF MY LOVE" chanté par Don et plein d'autre morceaux encore tout aussi bien les un que les autres. Cette première partie a vraiment été magique, les EAGLES on vraiment été super. C'est pendant ce break que je n'arrêtais pas de dire qu'ils étaient géants, que s'était le meilleur groupe et que se le sera toujours, d'ailleurs!!!. Cette première partie s'est terminée vers 21 heures 45.

La seconde partie a commencé vers 22 heures. Ils ont entamé par "WITCHY WOMAN" interprété par Don, c'était vraiment super. Les morceaux se sont également très vite enchaînés. Pendant cette seconde partie, nous nous sommes mis debout, nous avons dansé, frappé dans les mains, il y avait une très grande ambiance, le public était déchaîné. C'était vraiment magique.

Au moment de "DIRTY LAUNDRY" chanté par Don, nous avons pu voir les 4 aigles sauter avec leurs guitares dans les mains, ils étaient aussi chaud que leur public moi de mon côté étant quelqu'un de timide, j'étais complètement déchaîné, je me suis laissé emporter par la magie des EAGLES. Ensuite il y a eu le morceau "FUNK 49" interprété par le grand Joe qui a su mettre de l'ambiance dans le concert. A ce moment du concert c'était fantastique, phénoménal. Il y a eu ensuite "HEARTACHE TONIGHT" qui a eu un grand triomphe et enfin "LIFE IN THE FAST LANE" interprété par Don. En cette fin de deuxième partie les EAGLES ont salué leur public d'un signe de main et sont partis. Le public n'en finissait plus de les applaudir, de crier. Ils sont donc revenus pour nous interpréter le fameux titre "HOTEL CALIFORNIA" interprété par Don qui a eu également un triomphe exceptionnel, le public était de plus en plus chaud. Puis ils sont repartis en nous resaluant, le public en voulait encore, toute la salle était debout, tout le monde criait, applaudissait, c'était grandiose... Ils sont revenus pour nous interpréter cette fois-ci "ROCKY MOUNTAIN" chanté par Joe qui un eu un grand succès. Les aigles ont décidé de repartir, cependant le public ne démordait pas et pour cette fin de concert ils sont revenus en nous interprétant deux de leur meilleur morceaux: "TAKE IT EASY" chanté par Glenn. Au moment où la musique a commencé tout le monde dansait, frappait dans les mains, chantait, et, pour clore ce sublime concert Don est arrivé tranquillement au milieu de la scène et s'est mis à chanter "DESPERADO". Don a pris le micro dans ses mains et a laissé le public chanter quelques phrases, ce qui a été vraiment très touchant, cette fin de concert a été magique, Don a su m'émouvoir avec sa superbe voix de velours, son talent; tout comme les autres membres du groupe. Avant de partir les EAGLES se sont mis au milieu de la scène, ont salué et remercié leur public: "thank you!", "thank you very much!", "merci!".

Avant de partir Tim a remis un médiator à une personne du public, malheureusement cette personne ne fut pas moi. Cela dit LA MAGIE DES EAGLES aura su atteindre le public et plus particulièrement moi-même par leur musique, leur talent... Ce concert aura vraiment été magique.

Ce concert qui est pour moi mon premier concert "ET! QUEL! CONCERT! D'AILLEURS!'" restera inoubliable. Et en espérant de tout coeur revoir EAGLES sur scène en France. Le concert aura duré en tout 3 merveilleuses heures, ces 3 heures sont passées à une vitesse folle, je n'ai pu voir le temps passé tellement que c'était phénoménal.

En sortant du concert mon papa m'a reproposé d'acheter un maillot des EAGLES et sans hésitation je lui ai répondu: "OH! OUI!!!!!!". Depuis ce concert je suis devenue une très très grande fan des EAGLES. [je suis devenue un vrai ventilateur des Eagles (rire!!!)].
