John's Review
I WAS A LITTLE SKEPTICAL ABOUT PAYING THE TICKET
PRICES FOR THE EAGLES
CONCERT IN SPOKANE, BUT THE BETTER HALF JUST HAD
TO SEE THE EAGLES.
BOY, WAS SHE EVER RIGHT ON THIS ONE.
FROM "THE LONG RUN" TO "DESPERADO", THE SHOW WAS
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME.
THE SOUND SYSTEM WAS AWESOME, THE VOCALS WERE
AWESOME, AND THE GUITAR
WORK WAS AWESOME. THE WIFE WAS MISTY EYED AFTER
THE FIRST SONG.
MY HAT GOES OFF TO ALL INVOLVED WITH THE
PRODUCTION. THE TWO BIG
SCREENS AND THE HAND HELD CAMERAS ON STAGE REALLY
GAVE EVERYONE THE
FEELING OF BEING IN THE FRONT ROW, AND THE SOUND
SYSTEM FILLED THE
SPOKANE ARENA WITH AWESOME AND POWERFUL CLARITY.
THE SHOW STARTED AT 8:20 PM, AND IT ENDED AT 11:20
PM. ALL OF THEIR
SONGS CAME OFF VERY WELL, AND I LIKED HOW THEY
MIXED THE (GROUP) EAGLES
SONGS WITH THE INDIVIDUAL SOLOS. IT WAS LIKE
SEEING 5 DIFFERENT
CONCERTS IN ONE.
ALL OF THE EAGLES HAD GREAT STAGE PRESENCE ABOUT
THEM, AND THEY ALL
LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE HAVING A GREAT TIME. THEY
ALL SEEMED FRESH, NOT
BURNT OUT FROM THE PREVIOUS NIGHT, AND THEIR
VOCALS WERE GREAT. NONE OF
THEM SEEMED TO BE IN A BIG HURRY TO GET THE SHOW
OVER WITH.
SOMETHING HAPPENED IN THE SHOW THAT I HAVE NEVER
SEEN BEFORE AT A
CONCERT, AND IT HAPPENED TWICE. THE CROWD ERUPTED
INTO A SCREAMING
FRENZY MID SONG DURING STEUART'S INCREDIBLE LEAD
GUITAR ON "ONE OF THESE
NIGHTS", AND THEY ALSO ERUPTED MID SONG DURING JOE
WALSH'S INCREDIBLE
GUITAR WORK AND CRAZINESS IN "FUNK #49". THE
CROWD WAS EXTREMELY
APPRECIATIVE AFTER ALL OF THE SONGS, BUT WHEN THEY
ERUPTED MID SONG, IT
SENT SHIVERS DOWN THE BACK OF MY NECK.
THE EAGLES PUT ON AN AWESOME SHOW, AND I AM REALLY
GLAD THAT I GOT TO
SEE IT.

The twelfth show of the current tour, the Eagles
came on stage at about 8:10
to a sold-out Spokane Arena for what was being
hyped as the biggest rock
show to ever hit Spokane. Unlike much of the
previous tour, they opened
with The Long Run as opposed to Seven Bridges Road
to thundering applause.
They spent much of the first set zig-zagging
between lead vocals to
tremendous applause with each song sounding as
crisp and clear as the
recorded versions. The accompanying musicians were
quite amazing led by an
amazing guitarist who's name I've sadly forgotten
who played lick for lick
with JoeW all night. The first set while smooth
and fun was just a prelude
for set two which rocked the house and had us all
dancing in the aisles and
singing along to every song in unison. As seems to
be the case, Joe Walsh
was the show stealer with his amazing slide
guitar, crazy antics and sly
lyrical changes. The only thing that seemed to be
amiss was a little more
interaction with the crowd from the others.
TimothyB said a few words and
Glen even less. Not to be mistaken though, the
boys were definitely into
the music and the playing for us, we just wished
they'd have spoke a little
bit more. Glen took a small wisecrack at Randy
Meisner for disappearing
from the band in the 70's right before Take It To
The Limit while promising
us more of Don's solo-stuff later in night (we'd
just heard Boys Of Summer).
The high point of the night (there were so many)
may have been Funk #49 from
an energy standpoint....while the only time they
sounded a bit off was
during the following song Heartache Tonight (but
they may have spent
themselves on Funk, they'd gone all out).
3 encores had them back.....
Hotel California was first....then they returned
for second encore of Rocky
Mountain Way and All She Wants To Do (which I've
heard hadn't been played at
all other shows so we were psyched) and then a
final encore of Take It Easy
and Desperado.
So many songs, so little time. We were saddened to
miss New York Minute and
Heat Is On (the amazing horn section on this night
had us hoping if not
assuming we'd hear it) and surprised to not hear
Get Over It. There were
other songs I missed toobut how can you get it all
in over 30 years? In the
end, the guys played hard, they played tight and
they played long. It's
been wayyyy to long since they hit Spokane and we
have to hope they loved
the response enough to come back again, cause we
gave our hearts to 'em.
It's not that often I can't walk the aisles
because everyone jumped out of
their seats to dance and sing along!
