Gilmer, Texas, July 22, 1947
Raised: Linden, Texas (that's in East Texas for those of you grabbing a
map. Find Texarkana and follow highway 59 south.)
Parents: C.J. and Hughlene Henley (nee McWhorter) Don has no
siblings. C.J. sold auto parts and Don's mom was a teacher and housewife.
Don's father passed away in 1972. His mother is still alive, lives in Linden, and enjoys dogs.
College: Don
attended both Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches and the North Texas
State in Denton. He majored in English and thought about becoming a teacher, but didn't
graduate. He says he would like to go back someday. He has an honorary laws
degree from The University of Massachusetts, Boston.
Current Residences:
Don has homes in Dallas, Aspen, Los Angeles and at Caddo Lake.
Pets: Don usually
has a dog. He says he is not a cat person.
Hobbies: Don enjoys
fishing, reading,
writing scathing letters, cooking, and
he derives physical and spiritual pleasure from gardening. |
