As the Eagles
are fond of saying, there aren't many studio
outtakes hanging around waiting to be
discovered. Thankfully, producer Bill Szymczyk
collected some of the good stuff and assembled
it once a year to distribute to the people he
had been hanging in the studio with. These "Soul
Pole" collections are very rare because you only
got one if you appeared on it. They show an
interesting side to the band. Their senses of
humor are certainly showcased and once in a
while, you get a snip of an Eagles song that
might have been. We provide these clips here as
historical evidence of the band's recording
process. If you get offended by bad language or
like to think that the Eagles were perfect
gentlemen please don't download these. Since the
albums are so freewheeling, we've tried to
isolate the more interesting tracks. You may
recognize some of this as the rare stuff that
was put on the box set.
On another
note, we are so amazed by the process the
resulted in us being able to bring you the
tracks from SP4. When it appeared on auction on
eBay with a reserve price of $2000 we were sure
it would go to one collector and fans would
never be able to hear it. Well, fans got
together and pledged almost $8200 to save it. We
ended up paying $4600 and this will go down (for
us at least) as one of the Eagles fan
communities coolest moments.
