New Project Information

Yes, the Eagles are working on a new album. As we find out more about it, we'll include the information here. As we get closer to a release date we'll also archive the press and reviews. If you find anything, please send it in.

As of November, 2006

It's really happening. You have to believe us :)  The band has signed an exclusive deal with Walmart and has already released 2 new songs (Fast Company and Do Something) as part of a bundle with the Farewell I DVD. Our best estimate is that the album will be out before mid-June 2007. Hang in there folks!

As of November, 2004

The band is going to meet in January to decide the particulars about the album. They will be coming out with a DVD which does contain 2 new songs...One Day at a Time and No More Cloudy Days.

The band also has a television special in the works for April of 2005. I think we might actually be getting close to seeing an album.

As of June, 2003

In recent interviews Henley has described the new album as having, "a wide variety of things on it, everything from sweet little love ballads to some really nasty guitar-playing by Mr. Walsh."  Henley also gave a few more details about the recording process and another song called "Long Road Out of Eden" to Mark Brown of the Rocky Mtn. News.

.In this article about the Eagles releasing "Hole in the World" themselves, manager Irving Azoff mentions the new album won't be out until 2004.

As of April, 2003

It seems as if the album is in the final stages of getting ready.

This was in Hits on April 22:

The Eagles are finishing up their new album, which will not be released by a major label. Instead, the group will release the record on their own label and the album will be made available at Amazon, Yahoo and Best Buy. The first single, "Hole in the World," will coincide with the band’s upcoming tour, which is slated to begin in early May and has been doing boffo business.

The Wall Street Journal had some interesting news for those who like to download music:

Pui-Wing Tam reports for the Wall Street Journal that Steve Jobs' personal involvement has helped Apple's as-yet-unannounced music service secure rights to most of The Eagles' recordings.

The popular 70's rock band has been a holdout for other legitimate digital music services that have asked to include the band's catalog in their libraries. Irving Azoff, the Eagle's manager, said that he hasn't liked other online services, but he liked Apple's.

And on April 25th, Billboard magazine ran this:

The Eagles are nearing completion on their first new studio album since 1979's "The Long Run," which spawned three top-10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. "They're so close to finishing the record," manager Irving Azoff tells Billboard, adding that the band definitely wants to complete the project before the fall and that a new single, "Hole in the World," may ship during the group's upcoming Farewell 1 tour.

The as-yet-untitled album will be issued on the band's own Eagles Recordings label and may be supported by fall tour dates.

 As of November 29, 2002

Near the end of November, Irving Azoff gave brief interviews to members of the press in which he revealed that the album release would be pushed back to late 2003. He also gave details of the upcoming tour.

Since the tour has ended, the band must feel it necessary to start the buzz machine up for the next round. Mr. Azoff talked to Billboard about the new album and the tour (and apparently TV special) that will accompany it.

When Henley met people backstage during his recent concerts, he seemed very certain that the Eagles would tour this summer.

These quotes are from an interview Don Henley gave to RockDaily

"[The recording of the new Eagles album is] going quite well. We're all very pleased -- surprised even. I think everybody in the group is surprised about how well it is going and how well we're getting along, and how everybody is stepping up to the plate, you know. So we're just going to keep recording. We might record enough material for two albums. I don't know. You know, as long as we're in the creative mode here, we figure we might as well keep it going. We might take a break and do a short tour this summer of some secondary markets, but otherwise we're just going to keep recording."

"It would be nice to get it out this fall, but if it's not ready we're going to hold it until spring of [2003]."

"We're doing what we always do. We're making it up as we go along, you know . . . I mean, we'll [spend] three or four weeks in the other studio and then we'll come in here for two or three weeks. We just go back and forth between studios . . . Some of the writing gets done in my car when I'm driving . . . We make CDs of what we've recorded and I put them in the CD player in my car, and some of the writing gets done. You just have to do it when you can. I mean, it's not like we have allotted writing time all the time. But people bring in various pieces of music and various ideas and we [try] them out, run them up the flagpole and some of them fly and some of them don't."

Glenn Frey and Don Henley both spoke to members of the media this week (Don to WZLX and Glenn spoke during the Bob Hope golf tournament). From their comments, the recording is still going well. Glenn said that it's been "fun" and that the album will sound like "...the Eagles making a record in 2001". Don mentioned that the band will definitely tour after the album is released (and that's still looking like fall of 2002) but that they have been talking about doing a limited tour this summer. That's not definite, though.

Sources are keeping a really tight lid on this recording project. From what we've heard, those who are working on it are forbidden to speak of it.

We've also been hearing really interesting rumors about the band wanting to release (in DVD and album form) some live material. But that's just in the rumor stage.

As of January 8, 2002

According to reports, the band is currently in the studio working on their next album. The band consists of Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Timothy B. Schmit and Joe Walsh. Don Felder is no longer in the band (see lawsuit). While no official release date has been set, various Eagles have said that they are looking at a fall, 2002 release.

There is no information about tracks as of this time (however, a Scott Crago article referenced an Eagles song or album called "At the End of the Day").

Reports from all members of the band state that things are going well in the studio. Depending on which report you listen to, there are about 6 songs in various stages of production/writing.

There are currently no plans for a tour anywhere in the world, but the band will play one date (Feb 26) in Los Angeles in support of Henley's Artists' Coalition organization.
