History of the Eagles Tour

In this red carpet interview, Don Henley says the new tour will start in June, will be called The History of the Eagles Tour, and will include former band members!?!!  Probably not Don Felder, though, I bet.

>>"Probably not Don Felder, though, I bet."<<

Why? Because he didn't get defrauded quietly enough? Wrote a best-selling book about his own life? Made a record that sounds a lot more "Eagle-ish" ("Eagley"? "Eagler"??) than the fallacious collection of solo songs that Azoff, Henley and Frey put out in 2007?

There's as much reason to believe that Bernie Leadon (disinterested), or Randy Meisner (rumored health issues) would not be involved with any token, side-show role that might be cast for actual band members in whatever Eaglemania/last ditch cash-grab that can be conjured up to exploit the band's long-tarnished legacy.

Besides, Henley's lips were moving while referencing the Eagles. So there is little chance that anything said was not misleading, self-serving, or simply untrue.

Like you, I thought Bernie would be disinterested, but he's featured very prominently in the new documentary and Henley says that Bernie is the only former member he is in contact with (they email).

I have no idea what they have in store, but based on the fact that they say they still have no contact with Felder it would be difficult to plan a show with him on stage.

Jackson Browne? JD Souther? Linda Ronstandt? There are others who could show up as well. I would be very happy to see the Eagles as they are now - Frey, Henley, Schmit, Walsh (with the old footage with others...) - Bring it on!!!

regarding 'dave's' ever wistful but less than objective comments about the evils of don and glenn, it is interesting to me that timothy and joe have never asked nor regarded felder to be 'champion' of their 'undervalued' status or cause. several years ago, walsh was asked, 'do you miss felder, regret his dismissal'? ans. 'no'. or, check out timothy's song 'i'm not angry anymore', oh that's right dave, don and glenn put a gun to timothy's head and made him write that, didn't they dave? ummm, i wonder WHO timothy was writing about in that song, and WHY. umm . . . maybe there's something here that has not been fully revealed, an inner issue that we are not privy to. but anyway, it is not don and glenn who are laughing their asses off to the bank, it is joe, typified in the chimp that takes the money out of felder's pocket in the busy being fabulous video and handing it to the security guard who happens to be JOE WALSH, the guy who now kicks ass at the end of every eagles show and doesn't have to worry about the other guitarist stepping in front of him saying, 'hey, don't forget about me.' interesting, dave, that don and glenn (those ego maniacs) have no problem letting joe steal the show for the last 10 songs of the concert for the last ten years, as well it should be.

long road out of eden? yep, it missed felder, not enough rock. but i dont see a 'waiting in the weeds' song on road to forever either. and walsh getting the most of felder's portion just doesn't seem that unjust.

Dave, I am surprised L & M still allow you to post. You may have a few valid points but the majority of them are one-sided and biased. Felder’s last record is good and in fact a lot more “Eagle-ish” than LROE. Although, I think that -- at a minimum -- LROE’ title song and Weeds make-up for the any inclusion of “fillers”. The work of an artist is supposed to evolve as he evolves as a person, you know. Now, regarding Felders “biography” (… My life in the Eagles). The book is definitely an “OK read”. But, what primarily made the book a best-seller was the “Eagles stuff”. Initially, I bet that most readers skip the chapter covering Felder’s childhood and go straight to the chapters covering the juicy dirty-laundry/life-in-the-fast-lane rock-band stuff. Take a deep breath Dave …. and let it go! This time, this may very-well be, as Henley says, their last tour.

For myself it would be quite a thrill to experience all seven at the stage together. I don't know how the feelings are among the members and former members of Eagles, and quite frankly I don't care! I'm sure there are much that hasn't been said in public, and that is ok for me. But all seven on the stage together - YES PLEASE!

Anyway, I also will welcome a list of the songs that will figure on this new tour. I hope we will hear some new songs, some songs that seldom plays - and even some solo songs that hasn't yet been played on their concerts. There are so many marvellous songs from these guy that I can't understand why they always play the same songs again and again.

Today there are songs that have been played too much so I don't listen to them anymore. I choose the more uncommon tracks.
