I was fortunate
enough to go to the show in Charlotte last night. But
first, there’s a story that goes along with this. If
you think it’s too long, you can cut it but I thought
I’d include it.
I had never been to an Eagles concert (I’m in my
mid-fifties and I have been a fan since the
beginning). So, when I heard they were coming to
Columbia, SC I knew I had to go. I live in Greenville,
SC so this would be the perfect opportunity. Anyway,
when the tickets went on sale my son tried to buy them
on-line but for some reason the system wouldn’t accept
either his credit card or mine so, he tried the phone
– no luck. He went to his boss and told her he had to
leave work because he had Eagles tickets to buy. He
took my debit card with him. He sped down to the
Publix grocery store (a Ticketmaster outlet) only to
find that they accepted cash only. On to the ATM
machine – guess what – he didn’t have my PIN number.
He reached for his cell phone – guess what – didn’t
have it. He finally found a payphone, called his wife
who came to my job and got my PIN number. So finally I
have tickets to see the Eagles! Guess what – on May 11
my son and his wife both came down with a stomach
virus. Since I am unable to drive and he was sick, I
didn’t get to go. I was SO disappointed, I cried all
night. On Tuesday morning I awoke with a plan – buy
tickets for the Charlotte show (nearly $400.00 for
both shows).
It all came together last night. And, I have to say it
was worth it all. I have never seen anything like it.
The guys were AWESOME. Though Joe did have a little
trouble with some of the higher notes on Walk Away,
that was the only thing that was less than perfect.
The set list was the same as previous shows. I would
have loved to hear Victim of Love but, believe me, I
was not disappointed at all. The fans in the floor
seats stood for most of the show. We were in the lower
bowl and a fight almost broke out because this one
moron (from Florence, SC – I hope he reads this and
realizes what a loser he really is) kept having a fit
because a couple two rows down was blocking his view.
All I can say to that is – stand up! The crowd sang
along with every song, on occasion, singing louder
than the guys.
Black was again the color of the day with Henley in
black jeans and shirt, Frey in light blue jeans and
black jacket, Schmit also in light blue jeans and
black shirt. And Joe, I would have to say
indescribable. His pants were black but the shirt was
something else – red, yellow, black – really bright.
I know for sure that given another opportunity, I will
definitely go to another Eagles concert. I don’t know
about everyone else but I’m looking forward to
Farewell 2, 3, 4 etc.,etc. I’ll be there for it!! |

I attended the concert in
Charlotte. I also attended the one in Knoxville, TN
last year. I enjoyed this show more than the last
one. The crowd seemed to be into it throughout the
entire show. It was awesome. The vocals were
perfect. They followed the set list that you have
posted. Some of the people sitting around me seemed
puzzled by some of the intros. I had read your set
list before going, so I knew what was coming. The
guys seemed to really be enjoying themselves. The
upper level of the coliseum was closed off and people
who had tickets for those seats were upgraded to a
lower level. With the upper seats closed the place
was packed. I have been an eagles fan for many years
and they sounded just as great as always. The new song
was fantastic. During the introduction, Henley said
the song would remind us of something from Nashville,
with "lots of sanging". The harmonies were
excellent. I look forward the new album. During the
two hour drive home, I turned my radio to a classic
rock station in Charlotte for the after the concert
"10 at the end" set. The disc jockey asked for
callers to give reviews of the concert. All of the
callers said it was a fantastic show and most said it
was the greatest concert they had ever attended. I
encourage anyone who gets a chance to go to a concert
because you never know how many farewell tours they
will do, although I hope it never ends. |

WOW! To sum it all up in
one word. These guys are the best at their craft!!!
The old saying has to be true…we do only get better
with age!!!!! We had really good seats on Joe’s side
of the stage…he is so silly, but absolutely one of the
BEST guitarists. The helmet cam is a trip! Joe uses it
well during Life’s Been Good.
During Boys of Summer, Henley walked around on stage.
He came to our side and cracked up…enough to double
over and almost miss a line in the song…he went
running back to his microphone. We must have been
really loud, because the horn section and keyboard
player on our side kept looking our way.
The guys sounded great…Glenn seemed to strain a little
during “In the City” but did a superb job as did all
the guys. Joe is Joe and for those of you who don’t
know what that means…go to a concert and you’ll find
out!!!!
We thought this was the best night of our lives….but
wait, Greensboro is tomorrow night.

We went all the way from
Norway to Charlotte to see The Eagles live in
Charlotte and Greensboro. Like the other ones said -
This was AMAZING. Highlights were "Wasted time", "Boys
of summer", "Lyin' eyes", ALL of Joe's stuff, the
delightful Miami vice sounding "You belong to the
city" and "Hotel California". But WHY doesn't Don
Henley instead of Sunset Grill play "New York minute"
or "Heart of the matter"??
Funny thing at the end: After the concert we met a
famous Norwegian radioreporter. He had been in NY and
travelled all the way down to see this concert. He
told us that he had been to 350-400 concerts, and
THISONE was the best he had seen in his hole life!
Well, we spend $2000 to get to the US to see the
Eagles. It was worth every single cent. Hope they'll
visit Europe again soon.
