I attended
the show last night in Philadelphia. I was lucky
enough to get a front row, center section seat
(located directly in front of TBS). As stated in
previous reviews, they were running about 20 minutes
late. I was really looking forward to this, knowing
the crowds in Philly are completely wild & that the
band seems to feed of this type of audience. TBS
mentioned in always enjoys coming to the area because
his wife's family live there (didn't know that!).
Glenn had his usual jokes - mentioned the new video &
that he hoped it would be well received since they
were not really "video material" anymore - no
bellybutton piercing, etc. Joe, of course, was
completely wild - the group behind me were definitely
there to see him & their shouts seemed to bring him up
a notch or two from his usual clown-like behavior.
Oh, Sponge Bob pants were the attire for him.
I now know what L&M mean about Glenn's never-ending
eye contact with audience members & being in the front
I received plenty - thank you!!! Henley was great,
but then I always think DH is great. I love his solo
shows, but being with the band really lightens him up.
During All She Wants To Do Is Dance they all were
dancing around through the entire song - Don was so
into it he had to run to get to the mike for the last
verse -- it looked real, but maybe that's the planned
spontaneous thing!!
It was the best Eagles concert I've seen. Several
times during the evening I thought back to when I was
in college going to see these guys whenever possible.
At that time I couldn't image I would still be going
to their concerts, paying about $l25 more to see them,
but life has a way of giving you those great surprises
once in a while.
The show ending much too quickly, now I'm going to try
to talk my husband into going with me to the Atlantic
City show - could be tough since we leave for a cruise
a few days after that show - I'll give it my best
shot!!
One last thought, I do think the two-week break was
great - they all seemed very relaxed & happy to be
there! |

My favorite part was...-Henley's Solo material,
especially being played by Eagles members as opposed
to session players, they seemed more into it.
The set list was great, I liked how they allowed Glenn
to do In the City and Joe to do a few songs.
My least favorite part was.... Leaving the building,
could have listened another hour. As with every show,
there are one or two songs you wished you heard. I was
surprised not to hear Victim Of Love, and would have
liked the Last Resort. In
terms of Solo material, I was wondering why they
didn't do anything of End Of the Innocence, and I
think the Heat is On would have been good.
The band members were.....Very much in synch with each
other. You could tell how well rehearsed they were.
They easily could have only played 2 hours but went
the extra mile
The show made me feel..... Kinda hungry, I didn't know
it would end around 11:30, so I didn't eat dinner
earlier
Other comments - It was the first time I had seen
them, Henley is always excellent solo so this made it
much better.

Eagles, the best darn band in the world/galaxy/universe
did it again in Phila Tues night. They proved, yet
again, why they have captured a diverse fan base over
the past 30 years. From the 1st note of Long Run to
the last "Let Somebody Love You Before It's Too Late"
of Desperado, the Eagles captured the attention of the
Phila audience AND DIDN'T LET GO FOR ALMOST 3 1/2
ROCKIN' HOURS!!
I won't critique the whole set list since it has
basically stayed the same for the entire tour. Thus,
the only thing I must do right now is personally thank
"our guys" from the bottom of my poor old heart for
opening the second set with "James Dean". It has been
one of my personal favorites for almost 20 yrs. now
but I had never seen them perform it live. I gotta
tell you, I thought I was going to faint when it
began, but recovered quite enough to hop our into the
middle of the aisle & dance like a crazed woman. Yes
folks, for anyone who was lucky enough to be there---I
WAS the woman who screamed her fool head off & yelled
"Thank YOU!!!" as loud as possible at the end of JD.
Now for just a brief note on my take on each Eagle.
First, of course, MY MAN HENLEY was simply beautiful,
fantastic & just as elegantly sober as usual (I've
seen him at least 10 times sols & I can't ever get
enough of THE MAN). I think that the thing I like best
is his wonderful soulful pucker when he pounds those
drums on "Hotel Calif." As for Mr Frey, he seemed to
be very "on"--he certainly did sweat up a storm
(pretty yellow shirt TOTALLY soaking wet) when the
night ended. He was quite the "hot-footer" during "All
She Wants to Do Is Dance", I might add. Then there is
Joe, wonderful "Sponge-Bob, Square Pants" pants Joe.
Can that man play the guitar, or what? Half of my
quite-pricy ticket cost was re-couped by just watching
Mr. Walsh do his thing---AWESOME!! Then, what to say
about TJ Schmidt. Tim was gracious as always. It was a
nice touch that he took the time before he sang his
1st song (Love Will Keep Us Alive) to recognize
several of his family members who were in the
audience. I liked the fact that he thanked them for
supporting him over the years. In my humble opinion,
Tim is the most under-rated band member. I do hope
that he gets to sing several songs on the new CD
(release date????). Ya know, "I ain't gettin now
younger" LOL. Lastly, there is Mr. S. Smith, the
non-Eagle Eagle. Guys, here is my "two-cents"--FIX
THIS. He should be an official Eagle. He sounded
especially great on HC.
Last, but certainly NOT least, the back-up team
(apologies in advance if I leave anybody out), they
were also AWESOME. Scott Crago on drums was wonderful.
Both the piano man and the keyboard guy were great.
Then there were the horns---Oh My God, the horns were
beyond awesome. The horn opening to HC was practically
a religious experience. I am the total Eaglesfreak of
the family, my husband's favorite part of the eve. was
the horns---he just sat back in a total concert-daze
when the horns blasted. He asked me to personally
thank Al Garth for the wonderful horn sounds (Al, if
you read this, "thank you" from Ron).
Finally, on a personal note, this was my 7th Eagles
concert and, except for my 1st HFO (Phila, '94) it was
the best concert I have ever attended---and I have
been to a min. of 80 concerts over the past 10 years.
Yeah, I know that ticket prices are high---but,
believe me, IT IS WORTH EVERY SINGLE CENT!!!!
Thankfully, Phila was just the beginning of my "Eagles
Summer Concert Experience". I'm lucky enough to also
have tics for Boardwalk Hall in AC and my plane
fare/hotel booked for Vegas (anybody have tics to sell
cause I don't have one yet, I do live slightly on the
edge sometimes). OK, that's it for me---now for anyone
out there in Eaglesland who has not yet seen them
live-----SAVE YOUR NICKLES/DIMES/DOLLARS AND BUY A
TICKET NOW. It will be an experience you'll never
forget. EAGLES, NEVER ENOUGHT EAGLES, THEY TOTALLY
ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

My favorite part was...The entire concert
My least favorite part was....Why 3-encores?
The
band members were.....Fantastic as ever
The
show made me feel.....It made my nipples hard!
One
thing I'll never forget is.....The helmet cam!
Other comments .......The last time I saw the
band was 25 years ago at the old Spectrum. Joe Walsh
had just joined the band and I wasn't very happy about
this. To me, it was a slap in the face to true
"Eagles" fans. However, I guess I've mellowed with
age, and I have to say that Joe was right on last
night and was really a big part of the show. I'm glad
he's still part of the band and the show.
In a word, the
show, the band, the sound, the effects (loved the huge
wide screen and the visual effects) were
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott: Fan Review |
my wife and i attended the
eagles show in philly last
night and it was an experience from the start. first
of all, this was the
31st time for us seeing the band and from perusing the
eaglesfans site
regularly, we new what to expect as far as set list
and other things go. to
start off with, we had the MOST OBNOXIOUS PEOPLE EVER
to the side and back
of us. they were drunk, stoned or whatever and were
talking and screaming
through most of the show. the security people even
came over a few times to
try to control them but it was fruitless. that said,
another problem for us
was the sound in the first union center. we were in
the first tier fairly
close to the stage and with an excellent view, but
everything sounded kind
of reverbed out. the sound bounced all over the place
and seemed muffled as
a result. also, the vocal harmonies in many songs
seemed understated and
weren't mixed loud enough. "hole in the world" was an
exception because
things were very clear during this song.
those issues aside, the eagles put on a great show.
there's no disputing
their talents and how much they gave to the fans in
terms of quantity and
quality. they were pretty much as good as they've ever
been, but i noticed
several things worthy of mention. frey had some
problems with pitch the
entire night on many of his songs which may be why he
lays back more on the
ballads now. henley was his usual amazing self vocally
except on "boys of
summer" where he had some pitch issues as well.
steuart smith is a
wonderful guitarist, particularly on the ballads and
more-country stuff, but
he's not as adept as don felder was in some of the
crucial places ("hotel
california," "life in the fast lane," and "already
gone" come to mind). the
four eagles relied more than ever before on backing
vocals from the hired
hands. this isn't a complaint, but an observation. as
a result of that,
the unique eagles vocal blend wasn't always there in
the songs.
also, joe walsh really did steal the show in the
second set. he was amazing
and continues to make playing the guitar seem
effortless. he defers too
steuart, it seems and glenn barely played any lead
guitar at all this time.
even his solo in "already gone" was done by walsh and
smith (as opposed to
frey and felder in the old days).
we left the arena thrilled to having seen the band
once again. i've seen
them better (and i've also seen them worse). i'm
thinking that they really
need to redesign their approach and start doing some
other less hit-oriented
material--maybe some other album tracks ("good day in
hell," "doolin'
dalton," "after the thrill is gone," and "outlaw man"
are a few that come to
mind. also, getting rid of some of the solo stuff
wouldn't hurt either.
the set list, though changed from last year and the
hell freezes over tours,
is still pretty much the same old thing and needs to
be really revamped to
make their shows more exciting.
a few other notes: the set list was exactly the same
as it's been. the
between song conversation was also exactly as it has
been reported to be
elsewhere. the guys seemed to be having a good time up
there. the crowd
was enthusiastic, but not as much so as i was
expecting. and to those who
show up to these concerts to talk, scream and annoy
everyone else around
them, STAY THE FUCK HOME!

Well, still can't believe
what a night it was! Having seen HFO in four
different cities, I thought I was prepared, I was
wrong! The guys were all
so ON, you could tell the two week rest did them all
good. As Henley is "my
hero", he was truly amazing. "Wasted Time" was the
highlight of Don songs
for me, he can still hit the high notes --- "One of
These Nights" was a
great example. This tour is definitely different than
HFO, most of the same
songs, but this time the guys are playing as a band,
Henley was either going
back and forth between drum sets or strumming the
guitar on almost every
song. It's just so amazing to see them all playing and
singing together as
a group, prior to HFO, nobody would have ever thought
that we'd see them all
lined up on stage winding up the crowd with so many of
the songs we grew up
on, it blows me away every time I see it. Glenn
actually seeming like he's
having fun and enjoying doing a Henley song -
unbelievable... his antics
during "All She Wants To Do Is Dance" are too funny.
And the Horn Section,
with their "Motown" moves and choreography, as Glenn
introduced them during
the show as "The Mighty Clouds of Something", they
really are incredible. As
everybody has said, Joe is the one that gets the crowd
up to "rock and
roll", he is one of the all time AWESOME guitar
players. Timothy is still
like he was 20 years ago, as Joe says, "We haven't
changed". The set list
was the same, executed to perfection. And they proved
that the harmonies
that made them so unforgettable in the 70's are still
evident today, I think
the new song, "Hole in the World" is beautiful, you
just know the lyrics are
Henley influenced. I had seats about 12 rows back on
the left side of the
stage, the TV monitor was right above us, but didn't
really need it, could
see everything and everybody. When they came back for
their second encore
set, Glenn thanked Philadelphia for being so
supportive of the group through
the years and said that was the only reason they were
in the City to play
two shows --- fan support! So thanks all you Philly
people, I think they
like us! As they walked off the stage for the final
time waving and blowing
kisses to all, I couldn't help thinking I can't wait
for "Farewell Two"!

Well, what can I say that
already hasn't been said. The band is still
excellent. I attended the second show in Philadelphia,
which began at 8:25
and they immediately rolled through the hits exactly
conforming to the set
list. The crowd was some what quiet at first. It must
have been since
we're all a little older and 8:25 is only an hour and
five minutes before
our bedtime.
Towards the end of the first set, songs like Take it
to the Limit got huge
applause and the crowd was loud and into it. Glenn
began to interact with
the crowd and we ate it up. Joe brought the crowd to
it's feet, Tim had the
women at his beck and call, Don was Don. He was
professional, intensely
performing his best, but just didn't seem happy at
first.
The second set started slow for a song or two, but Joe
stepped into high
gear and we all had fun for the next hour or two. I
was amazed that it was
11:45 when the show was over -- time flies when you're
having fun. I really
had no bad experiences, being a Philly fan that's
saying something! At
first I was a little miffed about all of the solo
songs they performed, but
you know, they're great songs, even "You belong to the
City", not my
favorite but it's the Eagles, man, together on stage
-- they could sing
"Mary had a little lamb" and it would be great!
Thanks for a great night guys, I may even go to
Atlantic City to see you
again, just incase this is Farewell. |

I would like to share my thoughts on Tuesday night's
show at the First Union Center on July 8. Let me start
by telling you how great it was to see these guys
again in Philly. I waited over 8 years for them to
come back here. The show started out with The Long
Run. An appropriate tune to start off a show with
considering how long these guys have been on the music
scene. They really dug deep by playing songs from
early albums like: James Dean, Lyin Eyes and One of
these nights. They also played a lot of their solo
material including Joe Walsh's songs from the James
Gang. The eagles played for 2 hours and 40 minutes.
There weren't any disappointing moments. I thought
these guys put on a dynamite show. The show ended
with Take it easy and Desperado. Also, unlike the
Hell freezes over tour, Don Henley played the drums
most of the show. In closing, this show was
fabulous. As a lifelong Eagles fan, I hope they come
back one more time. Like the song says: Take it to
the limit, one more time. |

With temperatures in the 90’s and a heat index of 100
degrees as the Eagles kicked off the third leg of the
“Farewell I Tour” with two dates at the First Union
Center in Philadelphia, PA. The summer weather was
reminiscent of the last two days of the summer 2002
tour in Biloxi where Steamworld would have been an
appropriate addition to the set list.
For the first show on Tuesday night, a 5 minute long
Infinity video promo that was presented on the
overhead center and side video screens just prior to
the band taking the stage. This feature provided
insight into the technical aspects relative to the
production of the show. Hats off to the crew! The
video also included backstage shots of the band
rehearsing James Dean vocals. You can see a short
version of this feature by hitting the Infinity link
on the Official Eagles sight or at http://www.eagles.infinitysystems.com/pop_movie.aspx.
Although I hate the concept of tour sponsorships (I
thought the high ticket prices were supposed to cover
the tab?) this short feature was a gem.
Here are my random observations from
both shows:
Set One
Just after 8:20 PM, the band appeared on stage and
opened the show with a killer rendition of The Long
Run. Joe absolutely raged on slide. The lead and
harmony vocals were strong and most likely well rested
during the short tour break that preceded these dates.
The set list noted in the previous reviews from other
cities was identical for both shows.
“Philadelphia.....we’re
back!.......Trenton........(Pause)…… Whatsa matter?
You gotta problem with your neighbors from across the
river?” was how Glenn greeted the audience on night
two. He also acknowledged his Aunt Betty from
Nazareth, PA.
New Kid:
Steuart Smith just gets better and better. He nailed
all of the lead parts with the highest degree of
precision. Joe skillfully worked the tremolo bar on a
Gretsch. (For you players out there, I’ll try to
include some of the guitar details that I remember).
Wasted Time:
Strong Henley lead vocal. Just a bit of vocal rasp was
evident for the second show however, this contributed
greatly to the heartfelt lyrical content of this
song. This was an excellent performance that elicited
a rousing roar of approval from the packed house.
Peaceful Easy Feeling:
“Who still likes country rock after 30 years?” Count
me in! The Walsh/Smith guitar work and all vocals were
sterling.
Hole in The World:
Henley attributed the roots of this song to “the
sounds that came out of the Philadelphia region, a
Gospel, Soul kind of thing featuring Eagles five part
harmony” The simplistic instrumental arrangement
provided a nice musical bed for the excellent vocals.
This one can really grow on you.
Love Will Keep Us Alive:
Perfect vocals. Prior to the song, Timothy mentioned
that he had been coming to Philadelphia for many years
as his In laws (who were in the crowd on Tuesday
night) live in the area. Steuart’s improvised solo
(no slide like Felder played) really showcases his
talents and his command of numerous playing styles.
Joe flawlessly flat picked a 6 string acoustic for
the entire of the song.
Boys of Summer:
The Walsh and Smith parts were just blistering. (Joe
rolled out what looked to be a new candy apple red
custom Telecaster with humbuckers in the neck and
tail. He used to play the Eric Clapton model Strat on
this song.
Take It To The Limit:
Strong Frey lead vocal however, this one leaves me a
bit cold. It just doesn’t seem to go anywhere. How
about Ol’ 55 in this slot instead? They can do that
one live. The Mrs. Frey credit card joke is getting
tired.
Already Gone:
A great rockin’ performance. Closeout jam is awesome.
In The City:
Husky sound aided by the horn section.
One of These Nights:
In my view, one of the top five Eagles tunes ever.
Steuart kicked tail on the solo with a Musicman
Silhouette guitar.
Break:
22minutes. Don’t be late!
James Dean:
Haven’t heard this one live since the HC tour in
1977’. Joe’s axe was slung with a bright yellow POLICE
LINE DO NOT CROSS guitar strap. Very cool indeed and a
nice accent to the Artic camouflage pants. On the
subject of wardrobe, on Tuesday night, Glenn changed
his black shirt during the break and came out for the
second half wearing a bright orange shirt under his
black blazer. Perhaps the orange and black color
scheme was an effort to win over the Philadelphia
Flyers fans? (Heaven forbid….. Isn’t Glenn a Ranger
fan???)
Lyin’ Eyes:
“A love triangle with seven verses dedicated to wife
number one…….Plaintiff” is how Glenn described this
one. (“These are the jokes folks”) Great strings by
Al Garth and acoustic piano by Michael Thompson.
I Can’t Tell You Why:
More vocal excellence from Timothy. Steuart Smith
played brilliant solos on an ES-335 earning him a
standing ovation.
Walk Away:
Humongous sound. Joe tore it up on a Strat. The
audience went nuts!
Tequila Sunrise:
Perfect
Sunset Grille:
Henley did a great job of hitting the high notes.
(“Don’t worry girl, I’m gonna stick by you”) Once
again, more brilliance from Steuart Smith! Are we
starting to see a trend here?
Turn To Stone:
Great stuff! Joe wailed on the wah wah pedal to
enhance his awesome screeching solos. Eagles vocals
were always a great element of this song. (i.e.: the
So What album, Australian bootleg and Long Run tour
versions). I only wish that they had added harmony
vocals to the outro.
You Belong To The City:
Played with Glenn sitting at the Clavinova. More over
the top wah wah solos from Joe to close out the song.
Life’s Been Good:
More big horns. This rock stars anthem is always a
crowd pleaser. Love the Frey guitar harmonic doorbell
sound. (“Can’t find the door”) J.W.’s Helmet Cam was
cool too.
Dirty Laundry:
Featured guitar solos from Glenn, Joe (who played the
part on Henley’s I Can’t Stand Still record) and
Steuart Smith.
Funk 49:
“Thatsa so nice” More Joe equals more audience
approval. Glenn now calls out “nine” (the countdown
number to the conclusion.) Last year it was “eleven”
Heartache Tonight:
Well crafted intro. Glenn sang his guts out. Horns
also gave this number a big charge. Joe unveiled
another new guitar for slide parts on this song.
(Looks like a custom made Tele with a humbucker in the
tail. No bridge pickup. Candy apple red with a band of
white vintage Corvette like stripes running down the
center of the body)
Fast Lane:
A great show closer. What a jam! Kind of a bitter
sweet number because it means the shows end is near.
Are you with me so far?
End of Set
(11:00 PM +/-)
Encore One
Hotel California:
The Latin influenced trumpet has the audience puzzled
at first, but they figure it out the moment Steuart
appears on stage with the 12/6 string double neck,
which by the way, is a beautiful custom made Musicman
axe with vintage white finish. (Joe played his parts
on a Strat. In the past, he always used a Tele or an
Esquire). This one brought the house down.
Encore Two
Rocky Mountain Way:
I was 4 rows right in front of Joe and the facial
contortions that he makes continue to amaze me. The
low E string detune on the close of the Talkbox solo
is a nice touch. More horns for that big sound.
All She Wants To Do Is Dance:
I can take or leave this song. How about another
Eagles classis in its place? Any suggestions? It was
amusing however to see Glenn dancing like the chick in
the Henley video while up on the keyboard riser.
Encore Three
Take It Easy:
Prior to the start of the song, Glenn thanked the
audience for all of their support over the years
“because you make it possible for us to do this”. Big
12 acoustic rhythm from Glenn and searing solos from
Joe anchored this classic.
Desperado:
Performed with Henley out in front. Just beautiful!
End of Show (11:35 PM +/-)
In Summary:
Overall, A+++. If you have seen this show before, the
set list becomes repetitive because it is. This
repetition however, is one of the reasons that the
band sounds so good. Practice makes perfect! Rather
than throw something together that sounds like hell,
they pick their set and work it out until they can do
it in their sleep.
Some nice technical elements have been provided to
enhance the patron’s experience such as P.A speaker
arrays flown to provide the house mix to the rear one
third of the hall as well as over the side of stage
seating areas. The jury is still out on the video
system.
Each night I hated to see the show end, but look at
the bright side…the Boston dates are less than a week
away!
Quote of The Night:
While introducing the backing band members, Glenn Frey
mentioned that sax player Chris Mostert was from
Holland. He followed up his introduction with a
comical line that went something like this:
“Yea, they got it all figured out over there… No
drinking, no smoking, no drugs and you’ll live longer.
But actually, you don’t. It just feels that way”
For The Record:
Although I have covered this subject in previous
reviews, I still am amazed (disgusted) by the people
who drop $177 for tickets and then proceed to talk
through the show. I was happy to have some help this
time as several other concert goers helped to silence
the inconsiderate with a well timed SHUT UP!
P.S.:
To the leather lunged jerk who sat in section 2, row 4
last night, may the Philadelphia Eagles finish last in
the NFC East and may the Flyers miss the playoffs!

I saw
the show in...Philadelphia,
July 10
My
favorite part was... I
loved every minute of the show, the energy, the songs
spanning 30 years!
It was fun to find
out that the sweet little old lady two rows in front
of us in Section 124 was indeed, Aunt Betty. She
beamed with pride every time Glenn sang a song. Aunt
Betty got up for all the encores and had a blast.
My
least favorite part was.... That
loud, annoying, dancing fool of a woman a row in back
of us. She got up at "The Long Run" flailing her
arms, yelling at the songs and swearing and kept
standing for the first part of the show I felt bad
for her neighbors they paid a lot for those
tickets! Security kept letting her back. People if
you want to dance, get floor seats. AND DON'T talk
during songs.....how much can you have to say!
The
band members were.....rockin'.
Everyone seemed happy to be on stage. They acted like
old friends, having a good time and playing rock and
roll. I do wish Felder was still in the band. I
miss his signature guitar sounds.
The
show made me feel..... Great.
I just absorbed the sounds, the sights, etc. I didn't
want the evening to end. I took my
mother-in-law to the show (yeah, I'm so cool). She
had an absolute blast. I don't think that smile came
off her face until 2 am!
One
thing I'll never forget is.....realizing
that this band has provided a wonderful soundtrack for
30 years of my life. I was 10 when I first heard "Lyin'
Eyes" in my father's car on a.m. radio and I
was hooked.
Other
comments .......Rock
on Eagles, Rock on - stay healthy, be happy (yes, you
too DON Henley)

My favorite part
was...Sitting back and listening to an historic group
enjoying their music and their fans for over 3
tremendous hours. A great set list (they could have
played forever and not played enough hits) that I
thought was well thought out with some terrific
transitions. Joe and Don are just the best. Don is
professional and the ultimate talent. Joe is a clown
(in a good way) and simply the best guitarist ever.
Joe seemed to lay back
during much of the first set but exploded in the
second set and was the story. Timothy is the perfect
fit providing background vocals and terrific bass
playing and his songs are well received (everyone was
singing along to "I Can't Tell You
Why"). Glenn was better than I've ever seen
him - really enjoying himself. And Stuart Smith is as
far as I'm concerned an Eagle. I thought Don Felder
was great but Stuart didn't miss a beat.
My least favorite part
was.... 1. "You Belong To
The City" - a great song that Glenn just can't sing
anymore. 2. Having to leave - it was great night.
The band members
were..... into it from the
start. They never cease to amaze me how talented they
are and how they can play to the crowd. All their
music - even the old stuff - fits them now even better
then in the 70's. "Hole In The
World" was sung with such passion and heart - it shows
they still enjoy what they are doing and enjoy being
"EAGLES"
The show made me
feel.....proud to be an Eagles fan from the
beginning. I never tire of greatness.
One thing I'll never
forget is.....meeting some teenage girls who were
buying shirts and being told that they love Eagles
music. This band transcends time and touches every
generation. That is why there will be Farewell II,
III, IV, V, ..............
As Glenn said "You're paying - we're playing".
Other
comments ....... Not the
biggest Glenn Frey Fan but other than not being able
to handle "You Belong To The
City" he was actually very entertaining. Good jokes
with the crowd especially about his ex-wife
"Plaintiff" and I was laughing so
hard as he danced to "All She Wants To Do Is Dance".
Even his few guitar solos were exceptionally well done
although they pale in comparison to Joe Walsh and
Stuart Smith.
The horn section was awesome. |

I saw
the show in Philadelphia at the First Union Center on
July 9, 2003
My favorite part was seeing them perform Hotel
California live. I anticipated that for the entire
concert and they waited to do it within the last 20
minutes, but like they say, they save the best for
last...
My least favorite part was having the thought in the
back of my mind that they were pretty much just doing
the show for the money.
The band members were excellent, they proved to me and
the rest of their fans that they can still rock on put
on one hell of a show.
The show made me feel great... considering I was only
8 years old when they did the Hell Freezes Over Tour
and at that time had no idea what great music was, I
could not attend that concert. I anticipated this
concert for 4 months, counting down the days. That
concert was the best I've been to. Having these guys
rock for 3 hours doing about 30 songs was amazing.
One thing I'll never forget is Glenn Frey making a
joke about the next song he was going to do. He said,
"My wife thinks this song is about credit cards." A
thought popped into my mind and I didn't think they
were going to do this song because it was written way
back when with Randy Meisner, but it is my favorite
song by them... when the song started I looked at my
friend and told her I was going to cry and sure enough
I did. I didn't expect them to do the song, but they
did it and it brought me to tears. Happy tears of
course. Thanks guys...
