Mary Lou's Review

Least Fav part - was never a big fan of the song Dirty laundry

The band members were tight and did not miss a beat - they were wonderful

The show made me feel like I was back in High School

It was great hearing Joe Walsh do James Gang songs - I wish Timothy B. would do more on his own - he is my fav band member and a couple of Poco songs or things from his solo album would be nice

Jay's Review

My favorite part was... The whole show. With the showmanship

the band demonstrated, they prove that, like a fine California wine,

they too get better with age.

My least favorite part was.... The end. I could have stayed through another show.

The band members were..... Phenomenal. Although Joe slipped a couple of times on some lyrics,

he recovered nicely by making a laugh out of it.

The show made me feel..... lost in time. They sounded every bit as god as

they do on their recordings.

One thing I'll never forget is..... finally cashing in on the opportunity to see one of

the all time great bands perform live.

Other comments .......if you have the chance to go to the show, DO IT!!!

Spend the money, because it is worth it. Besides, you can't take

it with you.

Scott's Review

This was my first Eagles concert ever, and it is by far the absolute best show I have ever seen in my entire life. They guys hit the stage about quarter after 8, and "The Long Run" was a pitch-perfect opener. I felt a cold chill of excitement run through me as soon as the stage lights came on revealing the guys! First set was solid, and i really did enjoy the live version of "Hole in the World". If i didn't know better, i'd swear that they were lip-synching, the harmonies were that good. John Boylan was in the audience that night, so Glenn decided to skip the "dedication to my first wife plantiff" joke before Lyin' eyes, and dedicate the song to john. The "Credit card" joke before take it to the limit was still there though. When they broke into In The City, Joe was faltering on those high notes. He staggered on the first two, but decided to bring that last one down about a fifth, to a different note he could hit. He looked visibly upset, shaking his head, but he totally got back into the swing of things by "Walk Away".  He strung out the ending of that song a good 24 extra measures. It was incredible, the whole band was laughing, waiting for him to signal the end. I really enjoyed the updated version of James Dean too. The drumming is a little more tame, but the horns really help the song along a lot! It was great to hear them pull that one out. By the time they came to the walsh/henley solo section, the whole crowd was standing almost the whole time. A few people didn't really seem to get where turn to stone came from, but i loved hearing them do that song again after not playing in since the 70's. Glenn was also busting some moves during "All she wants to do..." with the horn guys.

Whoever says these guys aren't a good live "show", obviously doesnt have a taste for good music. These guys were as animated as i've ever seen them, and the music was CD quality. Granted, the bass was a little low, as were some backing vocals, but you couldn;t have asked for a better show!! And as a little added bonus, i managed to pick Lisa and Melissa out of the crowd of thousands and actually got to meet them. You guys are great, and it was really nice to finally put faces to the names !

Amy's Review

Have just a tremendous amount of applause/ and respect for these guys....I
grew up listening to them....relate so much of life's experiences to their
songs.... year after year after year......Their concert in Albany was
stunning.  I was thrilled... All around me the audience .....(one could
tell) was so in tuned.....Had some people crying ...others
laughing/dancing.....this was a dream come true for me....waited for years
to see them....AWESOME.  Worth the seven hour drive (round trip) from my
little town of Bolton Valley, Vermont ....Go Guys...Look forward to
more....

Rob's Review

I guess Farewell II has begun for me. Just when I thought I had seen my last of the band for a while, (if not ever) once again, my compulsion to see the Eagles just couldn’t be controlled. “So I packed up the car and I got some gas” and I was off to Albany for yet another “Farewell I” show.

Once inside the hall, I waited in great anticipation for the start of the show. I was seated in the 2nd row of the center floor section floor section right in front of Frey. This location was perfect. The band would not have been any closer if they played the gig in my living room.

Right on schedule, the Eagles strolled out at 8:20 PM. After a momentary delay (a guitar tech had to tweak Glenn’s wireless guitar system) the show typically opened with the Long Run. Glenn then welcomed the Upstate crowd and continued the show with the standard Farewell I set list.

Some random observations from the show:

• Henley seemed to struggle vocally during Wasted Time. He took fairly long pauses during lyrical breaks to muster vocal strength. One comical moment occurred when a male voice yelled out “I love you Don” during one of these pauses. Henley looked off to his left and gave a “Yea, Ooooooookay” expression before smiling and continuing on with the song. This was received with much laughter from the crowd. His had his voice warmed up and back in fine shape by the time Boys of Summer rolled around.

• Steuart Smith continues to amaze with his playing proficiency. This guy is the real deal. If you are going to a show, do take time to observe his thumb picking style. He doesn’t miss a note and also provides backing vocals on many songs.

• Long time Eagles crony John Boylan was is attendance and was acknowledged by Glenn Frey.

• Al Garth did a bit of improvising on his Lyin’ Eyes violin part. Joe seemed to get a big kick out of this. On the subject of additional players, the backing band has been just super. I like the way the horn section circles a condenser mic when providing backing vocals for Hole In The World. Will Hollis was welcomed with a loud ovation when introduced as he is from Rochester, NY.

• Although I was never really a big fan of the song James Dean, I have taken quite a liking to the live version. It’s great.
• On this night, I could hear Glenn’s electric guitar in the mix with great clarity. He executes all of his parts quite capably. By the way don’t believe what some have reported. There is nothing wrong with his voice. His falsetto thing on You Belong To The City is a vocal improvision. He sure lets it rip for the rest of the show. Overall, he is one terrific performer.

• The current Turn to Stone arrangement is awesome. Joe’s guitar work as well as the Chris Mostert sax solo really juice this one up. Henley sings his harmony part with a headset mic from the percussion riser.

• Joe has used so many different guitars on this tour, I have lost track of them all. He also switched out his Marshall amp for a Mesa Boogie in between the 2 Philly shows. He continues to uses the Boogie.

• Glenn’s “favorite trumpet player” Billy Armstrong really got into the Hotel California intro. He waved the crowd on with one hand while continuing to play his other.

• At shows end, Joe exited the stage waiving a large red foam hand and with a big smile. Timothy B. Schmit was kind enough to grab a handful of picks and toss them to the crowd before exiting the stage for the evening.

Although I knew in advance that nothing could top the Mohegan Sun show, I remain thrilled to have been able to make the trek up to Albany. For me, nothing generates the feeling of anticipation that I get when the lights go down just prior to an Eagles concert. As I stated in a previous review, the Eagles never disappoint in concert. In Albany, this was once again the case.

Do you know the way to San Jose?
