My
favorite part was...
The whole concert
was my favorite part, at the end of the concert just
as Timothy was walking off the stage I yelled
out ”Hey Timothy catch and
he stopped in his tracks and I threw my necklace to
him and he caught it” I couldn’t believe it, I also
have to say that Joe Walsh’s “Life’s been good to me”
was absolutely amazing. Glen Frey’s dancing while Don
Henley sang “All she wants to do is dance” Man does he
ever move and man does he ever have a nice butt in
those levi
jeans. Don Henley was
amazing. Everything was perfect…the best concert
EVER. There new
song ”hole in the world”
was the best and looking forward to the new album..
My
least favorite part was.... Are you
kidding...there
is no least favorite part
The band members were.....
full of energy,
sexy, unbelievable, way better than any young thing
with a nice belly button quoting “Don Henley” did I
mention sexy…they rocked!!!
The show made me feel.....
amazing!!!!
One thing I'll never forget is.....
telling
Timothy I loved him and he saw me say it and he waved
to me as well as watching him catch my necklace and
holding in his hand…I LOVE YOU TIMOTHY.
Other comments
.......COME TO
VANCOUVER, BC CANADA SOON…I WANT TO COME TO A FAREWELL
2,3,4,5,6 AND SO ON…LOVE YOU TIMOTHY…

The Eagles made their
44th appearance (of 44 appearances) at the White River
Amphitheater in Auburn, WA. First off, I was very
impressed, as I always am, with the Eagles flawless
performance. Their voices were superb, each note was
on the money, just as I've come to expect. My problem
with this concert was the venue. The Eagles performed
at the Gorge Amphitheater last year, and the sound was
superb from most areas, very full and clean. At White
River this is not the case. I was sitting in the first
30 feet of the grass in the middle section and the
sound was horrid. Many times I could not even hear Joe
Walsh's guitar. I was able to hear the audience
talking quite easily, which was not the case when I
was sitting in the lawn at the Gorge. I walked down to
the rear row of reserved seats and found it to be no
better there! It had a cassette tape sound to it, very
hissy and inconsistent. I walked out to the parking
lot during Take it Easy and found the sound to be
better out there! I noticed that the faster songs,
especially Life's Been Good, seemed a bit louder and
clearer. So the Eagles played beautifully, I really
loved hearing them harmonize on Hole in the World. I
think the Gorge was a better venue, though. |

Therese's Review |
I’m still in a daze over
the Eagles “final” Part I concert, and am feeling
mixture of euphoria and emptiness.
The first bout of euphoria was caused by being part of
the Joe Walsh Fan Club “Meet & Greet” with Joe before
the concert. (What a fun group of people!) We received
our backstage passes and were let into the venue
slightly before the impatient masses. We were led to a
covered tent, stocked with drinks, munchies and some
very comfy couches. A few minutes later, Joe casually
walked in wearing his sweats and a big smile. (By the
way, YES, he does have big hands; and wow – I didn’t
realize his eyes were such a pretty blue!) Although he
is such an awesome presence on stage, he strolled in
and instantly made everyone feel comfortable with a
personal “hi” and a handshake. His Fan Club was very
generous, and bought tour programs for all of us, as
well as a cool “Eagles 2003” pin. Joe signed the tour
programs for each of us; and then it was question and
answer time. He said he has a collection of songs that
he “doesn’t know what to do with.” After he heard our
outcries, he then said maybe he’d put a few up on his
website. (He said he knows he’s neglected his website,
but I told him it still was better than the other
“official” Eagles websites.) Joe said they’re still
working on the Eagles CD, and said there’s “tons” of
material on it already. (He sounded a little impatient
about that!) Joe said he was just informed that they
possibly may do another mini-tour in Canada (in
October), although he did admit he was afraid of
getting SARS or the West Nile virus! [NOTE: During the
concert, Glenn said Auburn was the final stop on their
“Part I” tour; so I’m not sure what the deal is with
the Canadian dates.] I gave Joe a “Joe-style” shirt
with guitars all over it, and some “Sleepless in
Seattle” coffee. He seemed to like the shirt, and
pointed to some guitars on the shirt, saying: “I just
got one of those . . . and one of those . . .” Then
his photographer came in and took a group photo of all
of us (which will be on his website later). Although
he only was there for maybe half an hour, it didn’t
feel rushed (although any time with Joe would be too
short!), even though we knew he had to get ready for
the concert. He then thanked us, gave us all another
handshake (I was too chicken to ask for a hug – dangit!),
and left the building. When he left, you could just
feel a wave of energy leave with him.
The second bout of euphoria came from the concert
itself. I was in the fourth row, center; and could see
pretty dang good (Glenn’s spittle, included!). The
only drawback about my seat was that Glenn was in the
way when Don was on one set of drums (some of you
might prefer that view, but not me!). Other than that,
it was a great seat. After the second song played, I
realized I was in a fun section, too; we stood up and
danced through pretty much the rest of the concert,
and no one behind us got ticked off!!
The set list was pretty much the same. (I was hoping
they’d mix it up a little because it was their last
concert, or open with Seven Bridges, but no such
luck.) Don did have a cold, and after his first song,
said he was “waiting for the medicine to kick in.” He
did sound a little scratchy during The Long Run and
Wasted Time; but after that, he was pretty much
perfect.
Timothy said one of his favorite authors was from
Washington (Tom Robbins), and quoted a favorite line
of his: “I couldn’t make it in spirit, so I returned
to you in person.” However, the Eagles were here in
both spirit and person.
Strong songs
(1) I have to admit, I was cringing when it was time
for Glenn to sing You Belong to the City. However, I
was pleasantly surprised. He hit pretty much every
note, and it was not in that yucky falsetto voice that
he had at last years’ shows during this song. It was
the strongest I’d ever seen him sing this song, and it
was a nice treat.
(2) Don singing Boys of Summer was just perfect –
especially since we could feel Fall in the air. Sunset
Grill – although typically not one of my favorite Don
songs – was done beautifully, and the trumpets really
jazzed it up.
Some funnies
(1) After about 1/2 hour into the show, the lovely
aroma of cow manure blanketed the air. I saw Glenn
walk over to Timothy, make a face, and say: “Do you
smell the cows?” I was surprised that none of them
mentioned it out loud; I think maybe they thought
they’d insult us! It did overpower the smell of spilt
beer and some other typical sweet smoky smells you get
at concerts; so you know it was pretty dang strong!
(2) Glenn dancing to All She Wants to do is Dance. I’d
heard about him doing that, but didn’t realize how
much he danced. What cracked me up is that Don didn’t
seem to know Glenn was dancing (although I’m sure he
did). Don can keep a pretty good straight face!
(3) Glenn chasing Joe across the stage with his
guitar.
(4) Glenn and Joe strumming the last note of Lying
Eyes on each other’s guitars.
(5) Glenn singing along with Don’s and Joe’s solo
songs, and looking like he really enjoyed their music.
(6) Don smiling and grimacing at Timothy when Don
didn’t quite hit a high note in Waste Time.
(7) Joe and Glenn goofing around behind Don on Sunset
Grill.
(8) Timothy running over to Steuart Smith to jam for a
minute or two.
Absolutely unforgettable images:
(1) Don, Glenn, Joe and Timothy all in a line, each
playing the guitar. (If I’d had the time to take my
camera out, it would have been an incredible shot.)
(2) When Don sang Desperado, all I could see was Don
and the spotlight – it was as if no one else existed
for those few minutes. You could sense his
vulnerability and heart, and because of that, it was
the most powerful version of Desperado I’ve ever seen.
(3) The four of them waving to us at the very end.
Final thoughts:
Don seemed pretty quiet (probably because of his sore
throat), but clearly was having a good time. He seemed
the happiest when he was playing the drums.
Glenn was enjoying both the Eagles music and Don &
Joe’s solo music. Again, I realized his guitar playing
is underrated.
Joe was our Joe. Although I love him, I wondered how
the rest of the Eagles felt when the audience kept
yelling for Joe. They obviously must know, though –
because Joe’s music dominates the second half of the
show.
Timothy was his typical calm, sweet self.
The obvious theme throughout the concert is that they
all still really enjoy each other, and they still have
a good time playing their songs (even though they say
they’re sick of those songs!).
What made me feel empty was the last image I saw of
Don. He was the last one off the stage, and his last
wave seemed so wistful and final – almost like this
really was their last tour. But, as Glenn said: “We’ll
see you on the Farewell VI Tour.” We can only hope
that comes true.

Steve's Review |

I went to the Auburn
concert last night, what a great show. I have seen
the Eagles in concert four times prior, this was
their very best performance.
My favorite part
involved four songs in particular. Take It To the
Limit and New Kid in Town, the vocals were so
outstanding, and Stuart's guitar playing on these
was fabulous. Turn to Stone and the opening to Hotel
California were also tremendous highlights.
My least favorite part
was the opening song, The Long Run, Joe's guitar
could not be heard and the horns dominated Henley's
voice. But after that the sound was great.
The band members were
very endearing and generous to the crowd. Glenn
said, "This is show # 44 of 44, so this one has
special meaning to us", or something to that effect.
It showed in their stage presence, they appeared
genuinely moved to be singing to such an
enthusiastic audience. Don and Glenn and Timothy had
several moments where they just stood in front of
the crowd and waved to their fans with enormous
gratitude. At the end Glenn said, "We are looking
forward to Farewell 6." He said that they are
looking forward to completing the album and touring
next summer.
The show made me feel
very amazed at the power of their music and the
longevity of it. Young and old were present, and to
think that they have such a following of fans
considering their last album was 1979 is amazing to
see.
One thing I will never
forget is the enthusiasm of the crowd. The crowd was
very loud and standing a lot, screaming and you
could tell that the band really was energized by the
crowd's energy. This is my fifth eagles concert and
this was by far the best crowd response I've seen in
any concert. I know the Eagles will come back to
Washington because they couldn't forget the great
response they got here.
The only other comment
I have is one that I have seen in previous reviews,
which I agree with. Timothy's bass was too low with
most songs, in my opinion, and I wonder if the road
crew would consider adjusting this for upcoming
concerts.
My whole family loved
this concert.

My name is Jim. I
attended the Auburn show last night. Who knows, it may
be the last time the Eagles play live. You just never
know. Wow, I’ve never seen so many old people. It was
truly amazing to see white hair little old ladies
singing along to Hotel California. The show was good
but very predictable. They followed the list exactly.
Glenn made the comment this was the last of 44 shows.
It seemed to show. The worst thing about the show was
about half way through a really bad smell past through
the crowd. It smelled like you were in the middle of
manure field. Wow was it bad. Everyone was holding
their nose. Joe was great but the crowd had to be the
worst of the tour. Very few stood up even at the
encores. Over ¾ of the place remained seated. Come on
folks. These were the Eagles! |

Best part: Glenn Frey was so animated Much more so
then in Vancouver last time I saw them.
Worst part: The 1.5 hour drive out of the parking
lot!!!

Wow, what can I say............Every time I see the
boys I feel as though it simply gets better and
better.........Sorta like a fine wine.........The
Auburn show was incredible....the outdoor amphitheatre
(well, at least partly) along with what seemed like a
more intimate stage, was a great way for the band to
end this tour (although rumor has it that some shows
may pop up around October)..............the music was
incredible, the vibe was great, and the lady next to
me who seemed to know every song even better than me
really helped make this one for memory
books...............Joe for Governor!!!!!!!! |

The Last DJ's Review |
Their sweet stylings and
timeless classics flowed through the cool August night
like water through a desert, quenching their fans'
thirst and filling their hungering souls.
When the Eagles landed at White River Amphitheatre for
the final performance of their so-called Farewell I
Tour, the excitement was uncontainable. The roughly
20,000 fans present applauded and gazed in awe as the
legends took to the stage for their first set, which
they kicked off with the aptly titled song "The Long
Run." As the night progressed, some fans danced while
others reverently mouthed the lyrics they knew so
well. It was a magical night. And while some critics
have ragged on the group for not breaking new ground
on the tour, I found myself, nevertheless, spellbound.
A few observations:
Don Henley, whose distinct voice is probably one of
the biggest reasons I love the Eagles so much, seemed
a little tired during the show; he even acknowledged
that his vocal chords weren't at their best. But he
just got better as the night went on, and his humor
was great. He poked fun at himself and his colleagues,
pointing to their advancing age and
deteriorating looks.
Glenn Frey was incredible. He was the thread that
brought it all together, in my view. His performance
of "You Belong to the City" was truly inspired. "My
wife calls this the credit card song," he said as he
introduced "Take it to the Limit," and take it to the
limit he did.
Timothy Schmit proved he can still hit those high
notes with "Love Will Keep us Alive," which captivated
the audience even further.
And then there was Joe Walsh, with his seemingly
boundless energy and incredible guitar playing that
made you realize you were experiencing greatness. And
when they all came together like in their performance
of "Hole in the World" it was spectacular. I wasn't
crazy about the venue or about shelling out $70 to sit
in the lawn, but all that took a back seat once the
concert started. My favorite parts of the night were
their performances of "Tequila Sunrise," "Hotel
California.," and their bittersweet "Desperado"
finale. It was a night I won't soon forget.
