The Eagles show last
night at the Boston Fleet Center was nothing less than
incredible. They sounded great, and they played a good
mix of old, new, and solo music.
I must admit that I was never a huge Eagles fan before
I saw the show last night, but I am now. I always
liked their music growing up, but never really
appreciated how talented these guys are. Frey, Henley,
Schmidt, and Walsh all sang beautifully, and each
showed he was an incredible musician, on more than one
instrument. These guys are truly underrated. In this
era of instant pop stars, it's nice to see true talent
at work.

The
concert last night in Boston was TOTALLY AWESOME!!! I
don't know what I can say that hasn't been said
already. Joe was dressed conservatively-it looked like
a black velour jacket & camouflage cargo pants. Don I
believe was all in black, Glenn had jeans & a black
jacket and, best of all, Tim had on tight jeans with a
beautiful tunic top! During intermission he changed
into a black shirt that was a bit shorter in length so
you could get a few butt shots...nice!
I was curious how the crowd would react to "Hole in
the World" & I was surprised. The crowd clapped thru
it up to the point that the music kicks in.
When Scott was introduced, being from Greenfield,
Mass-he got a huge reception! After "In the City"
there was bigger applause than what had been delivered
up to that point.
During a lot of their oldies but goodies-Tequila
Sunrise, Take it Easy, Lyin' Eyes (which was dedicated
to a Rhode Island newly wed) the crowd just sang right
along-that was so cool. Of course, I didn't take my
eyes of Timothy all night & my favorite parts were
when he does his 2 songs. I really do wish he would
get at least 1 more song to sing...I just love when he
throws his head back...
The second half of the show was rockin' & at that
point I stopped taking notes & just enjoyed the whole
show! The guys seemed to be in good spirits, Joe's
hatcam was a huge crowd pleaser as were his songs.
However, even though I had a great seat, the highlight
came for me when I got down front for the encores & I
waved at
Timothy & he waved at me! MADE MY NIGHT!!!
And-the 2nd best part-I get to do it all over again
tonight-only this time I will be seated front row
center stage!
All I can say is reiterate what everyone else has
said-if you haven't seen the show-GO SEE IT!!!! It's
so well worth the $$ you get what you paid for. These
guys are perfectionists-the sound was perfect-they
were perfect-you'll never attend such a perfect
concert again (unless its another Eagle's concert)!

Performance number one of three Eagles “Farewell I
Tour” shows this week at Fleet Center in Boston was
another exercise in perfection. As I have previously
submitted a review from the two shows in Philadelphia
last week, I’ll only comment on some of items that
caught my attention.
Set List: Identical in selection and order of songs
noted in the splendid reviews submitted by the many
dedicated fans who visit the Fastlane site.
The Long Run: From start to finish, Joe’s slide guitar
parts and the horn section grab you by the throat.
Schmit, Frey and at one point, Joe all share one mic
for the harmony vocals.
Peaceful Easy Feeling: Harmony vocals are oh so sweet.
Walsh and Schmitt guitar work is great!
Hole in the World: Vocals held up well, even for the
change of key.
Love Will Keep Us Alive: Prior to song, Timothy
mentioned coming to Boston long ago to gig at a joint
called “The Tea Party”. His lead vocal was terrific.
One Of These Nights: Always a favorite of mine.
Steuart plays great rhythm and pulls of the blazing
solo with a variety of picking nuances. Just awesome!
James Dean: Frey lead and all backing vocals were
great!
Lyin’ Eyes: “Welcome to Farewell II”. Unfortunately,
this classic was severely disrupted by some ditzy
chick in row 2 who thought that she would entertain
the band by showing off her “T’s”. Glenn looked pissed
and I don’t blame him as this distraction screwed up
his song. I don’t think Joe was impressed either.
Besides, as we all know, Joe likes BTS. Next time
honey, you might want to keep that in mind before you
get kicked out of a show for boring us with your
minimal mammary contribution. Much more on audience
behavior later.
Turn to Stone: The mid song jam featured a sax solo
and Joe positively wails on the Wah Wah. Lot’s of
energy is generated by this one.
Funk #49: Love the part where band members go into
still frame poses. You get an idea of what a wax
museum display of the Eagles might look like.
Fast Lane: Timothy really moves on this one. Back in
1980, he commented on how this one “gets him up as it
is a real crowd pleaser”. This remains evident. Love
it when Henley says “Are you with me so
far???..........GOOD!”
H.C. This one will never get tired.
All She Wants To Do Is Dance: Steuart plays some mean
slide. Look for Frey dancing on the keyboard riser.
Once again, I found this amusing.
Take It Easy: Tongue in cheek, Glenn prefaced this
song by stating “they are starting to get pretty good
at playing this one”
Desperado: All good things must end.
Back to The Audience Issue: Now I’m going to try to
remain as positive as I possibly can here as the show
is fantastic and I don’t want to degrade this fact
with my railing on. Please be aware that my intent is
to hopefully enhance the concert experience of those
who will be attending Farewell I, II or whatever in
the future.
As I have noted in past reviews, I am incensed over
the inconsideration exhibited by concert patrons.
Having read other show reviews, this social crisis in
not just limited to cities like Boston however, the
Boston audience was one of the worst in recent memory.
The fact of the matter is that I am just plain OVER
the screaming during songs, people leaving or
returning to their seats in the middle of songs, cell
phone conversations and the tone deaf who attempt to
sing over than the house P.A. system (I like it better
the way the Eagles sing it, thank you). I pay top $$$
for great seats so that I am never farther back than 4
or 5 rows back with the hope that the sound system
will drown out these knuckleheads. Unfortunately, the
aforementioned behavioral problems go on unabated. I
can only imagine what it might be like in the upper
levels.
Now I can understand and even tolerate SMALL DOSES of
elation from those who may being seeing the band for
the first time however, there is just no excuse for
most of the other B.S. that goes on in an audience and
it’s not just limited to concerts either. For these
reasons, I am giving up my tickets for Wednesday and
Friday nights Boston shows and I have come to the sad
realization that Saturday night’s show at the Mohegan
Sun may be the last concert I’ll ever attend. (Really,
it has gotten that bad).
I truly appreciate the fact that most visitors to this
site are loyal Eagles fans who know how to enjoy an
Eagles concert, so I’m confident that you can relate
to my disgust. If this not the case and if you plan on
going to a Farewell I show, please, let’s try to start
a consideration movement by observing some basic
patron behavioral tips. Likewise, do not hesitate to
admonish the rude and inconsiderate for violation of
the following basic rules of patron etiquette:
1. If you are compelled to go out for that extra beer,
DO NOT exit your row until there is a break in between
songs.
2. DO NOT return to your seat until there is a break
between songs. To interrupt the concentration of other
patrons just to satisfy your thirst is at best,
selfish and rude.
3. The above also applies should you have to go out to
take a pee.
4. DO NOT sit in a seat that you don’t belong in. The
disruption this creates is compounded when the
rightful ticket holder returns and has to boot your
ass out.
4. DO NOT attempt to sing louder than the band! For
Christ sakes, stay home and put on an Eagles CD.
(Might I recommend One of These Nights?) Go right
ahead, get stoned, drink, sing, and pee you brains
out, all at a savings of $177.
5. TURN YOUR CELL PHONE OFF or put it on silent. I’ll
never forget the Moron who sat next to me at one of
the Vegas Millennium shows. This idiot just had to
call his friend and scream into his cell phone during
Seven Bridges Road.
6. At the risk of being labeled a Sexist and with no
malice intended, if you are smaller than a C cup,
please leave your shirt on and spare us the disruptive
commotion generated by security throwing your sorry
ass out of the building.
With just a minimal amount of effort, hopefully, we
can all better enjoy the fabulous performance that can
be attributed to the talents and efforts of the Eagles
and their crew.
In closing, I thought that the following lyrics from
Inside Job says it all:
“You live in a house of mirrors
Reflecting your splendid isolation
You have so much of everything
Except for true consideration
The way you dance
The way you walk
The way you drive
The way you talk
The way you eat
The way you drink
The way you act
The way that you don't think
It's like there's
Nobody else in the world but you
Nobody else in the world
Nobody else in the world but you
In case you haven't noticed
There's lots of other people here, too”

Rich: Fan Review |
I attended the second
show, on July 16th at the Fleetcenter. This was the
first time I had seen the Eagles live (I saw Don 2
years ago at a benefit in Lowell, MA). Rather than
break it down song by song, I'll give you my opinion
Eagle by Eagle :)
Don Henley: Didn't see much of Henley behind the drum
kit, he spent most of the time playing the bongo drums
or singing up front, or "attempting" to play guitar
::shudder:: hehe. (I love you Don but stick to the
drums! hehe) When he was behind the drums, the
difference was noticable, the songs had much more
energy, and his vocals were outstanding, especially on
"Wasted Time".
Glenn Frey: My favorite song of all time is "Take it
to the Limit", and i will always feel that Randy's
version is better, but Glenn has really made the song
his own. Having heard it now twice, on the Millennium
concert CD and now live in Boston, I'd have to say i'm
not as disappointed as i was at first. Glenn was
terrific tonight, and he trotted out the usual jokes
about his wives.
Timothy B. Schmit: I was disappointed to not hear Tim
speaking between the songs as he has in previous shows
(according to reviews), but of course his two
showcases were spectacular, although "Love will keep
us alive" was ruined for me by some A**holes in the
seats next to us, but i'll talk more about that later.
Keep up the good work Tim, here's hoping you get TWO
songs on the new album!
Joe Walsh: The man is a God, pure and simple. Watching
him wail on the guitar was like a religous experience,
i'll never forget it. I only wish they had included
"Pretty Maid"s...".
Steuart Smith: I know this has been mentioned
endlessly, but why on earth has he not yet been named
Felder's official replacement? This man must be named
an Eagle!! I must say i was thoroughly impressed with
his playing, and if i closed my eyes i would have
thought Don Felder was on stage.
Backing Musicians: The horn section was great, Al
Garth is just amazing on saxophone. And by the way,
where the heck is Greenfield Massachusetts? hehe
The Fans: Ugh, i was so disgusted with some of my
"fellow" Eagles fans. I remember Henley saying that he
didn't want to do new material on the tour because
people would just talk through it. Well it broke my
heart to see that he was right. I can honestly say
that my girlfriend and I were the only people in our
section that sat silent or sang along to "Hole In The
World". Everyone else just talked or went for drinks.
I let this slide, until it carried over into "Love
Will Keep Us Alive", when i had to tell the people
next to us that i paid 85 dollars to hear the Eagles,
not them! (Then they had the nerve to call ME an
a**hole) :-\
SO, with the exception of several ignorant fans, the
night was very enjoyable. I cant wait to see them
again. If you are feeling a little unsure as to
whether you should shell out the big $$$ to see the
show, just do it and you will be thankful!

Your
Name: I'm Wayne, 15, and I went to the July 16th show
at the Fleetcenter in Boston, MA! It was the most
amazing thing I have ever been a part of! The
electricity from the crowd was simply stunning! And
Joe Walsh stole the show! My favorite part was
definitely Life's Been Good! He wailed that guitar
like never before, the screen also shot up the words
"He's Cool!" And "OH YEAH!" at the appropriate times
during the show! Also, he had the alternate lyrics
going such as…
"I have a limo, ride in the back, role down the window
and scream…WHAAAZZZZ UPPPPP?!"
also,
" They write me letters, tell me Glenn's great!"
It was great! The whole night Joe was making us laugh
and stand on our feet! Glenn also had a lot of energy
and seemed to be enjoying himself all the time, as did
Tim. But Don Henley seemed rather bored for a good
portion of the show, mostly playing on then bongos, as
well as the drums. His energy could have been a little
better, but that's just fine proofing the show. But
they used a few lines from the Millennium set, which
was great, and my favorite quote was from Glenn,
"We're making Farewell 6 next year, it's gonna be
great! I hope I'm there…" hehe
I have to say, You Belong To The City was the "worst"
song of the evening, and it wasn't that bad. It would
have been worse if it wasn't for the great guitar solo
at the end from Steuart Smith, who I must say gave a
jaw dropping performance! Simply amazing!
More than anything, this show made me feel sooo happy!
I've been an Eagles fan since I was 6, and this was
the best night of my life! From the moment the snare
hit on Long Run to the very last note of Desperado, I
had a smile on my face!
I'll never forget the whole night, moments that really
were great were hearing The Long Run, Hotel
California…hell, the whole set! I loved the voice box
solo from Joe on Rocky Mountain Way!
And finally, if you haven't seen the show yet, go go
go! This was the most amazing experience! You'll all
love it, guaranteed!

Jon
again, who saw the Eagles last week at the MCI
Center...and the sound was not the best. Hey, it was
poor.
I saw the Eagles again tonight at the Fleet Center in
Boston. The 3rd of their 3 night stand.
WOW! Even though, I was again, in the cheap seats,
they sounded fantastic! This is what big arena shows
all need to sound like. The attention to detail was
noticed.
It is doubtful these guys could ever put on a bad
show, but tonight I could hear all the nuances even
from section 304.
Highlights are too many to mention.
I'm glad I got to end the Eagles concert venture on
such an "up" note.

I saw
the show in... Boston's Fleet Center, July 16, 2003
My favorite part was... All of it, especially Don
Henley, when he is on the
drums he and the band seem more energized! And
watching them do the new
song, "There's a hole in the world Tonight", and
hearing them do it accapella
at the end of it was awesome, as Don said, it was the
5 part eagle harmony
we all seemed to love.
My least favorite part was.... The people all around
us who seem to get up
every 6 minutes to go get more beers and forced us to
get up (our seats were
awesome but we were at the end of the aisle. One more
thing, I was hoping to
see the band play one of the best songs ever written,
the last resort and I
didn't see it, however...
The band members were..... totally upbeat and seemed
to know each others
moves very well, especially Joe Walsh , it seemed
whenever he played the
band seem to take it up another notch (sorry Emeril)
The show made me feel..... very good about seeing what
I think is one of the
best groups of all time they sounded great and we got
to see what I think is
the greatest, inspirational song writer of our time,
in Don Henley perform
some of his stuff!
One thing I'll never forget is.....Joe Walsh dancing
and glen fry dancing
with the horn section.
Other comments .......If people want to go to concerts
and drink and carry
on then perhaps they should go to bars , or better yet
stay home instead.
Some of us had to pay $175 each for our seats and we
went to actually see
the Eagles not the drunks that wanted to carry on !

I saw the show in
Boston, Ma on Friday, July 18
This is the second time I saw the Eagles during the
Farewell Tour. The first time I saw them was in
Philadelphia (my hometown) on Wednesday, July 9. The
only problem with getting to Boston was our departure
time because ticket master screwed me over being put
on hold and therefore my friends and I were not able
to leave from Philly until 1:00pm. Take into account
that we hit NY traffic and also a very aggravating
ride through CT. It took us 8 and a half hours to get
to Boston.... missing the first set of songs in the
show.
I had seats in the center on the floor in Section E,
or row 7. The stage seemed to be right there. Let me
tell you, those seats were well worth the price and
the drive, except for the guys who decided to take our
seats because we showed up late, but they were moved.
The fans there were great and crazy, I loved it... but
I don't know... they are in competition with us Philly
fans.
I noticed a few differences in the shows. The first
thing I noticed was that the guys looked tired... I
mean it was the third show in Boston... so they didn't
seem into it as much as they did in Philly.
Nonetheless, they never cease to amaze me. The concert
went great, but once again it seemed to go by too
fast. These guys still rock.
In my opinion, the Eagles are the most talented band
that has ever been formed. True talent is something
that is lacked by the musicians of today. To be able
to write a song, write music to that song, sing that
song, and play an instrument is just amazing. To top
that off there songs are great because they have a
meaning and are sung with great emotion.
Sidenote: Hearing the Boston accent was great. After
seeing an accident occur I heard the sentence, "He hit
my fackin cah!" I'm sure other people wondered about
my Philly accent considering we say "water" as "wuter."
Thanks for taking it to the limit guys...

My favorite part was... The whole darn thing! AWESOME
show!
My least favorite part was.... I honestly
couldn't find anything wrong, it was that perfect to
me! :)
The band members were..... Outstanding!! I
really appreciated the horn section! It was a
spectacular addition. Also Joe Walsh, in my opinion,
stole the show. He is so much fun to watch! I had
chills when the five of them were up there jamming,
Henley, Frey, Schmitt, Walsh and Smith. It was almost
like an out-of-body experience. True professionalism
and outstanding talent all the way!
The
show made me feel.....Lucky to be there. The Eagles
are hands down my husband's and my favorite band of
all time. We saw them 9 years ago at Great Woods in
Mansfield, Mass. and I thought they couldn't have been
any better but they proved me wrong! It was totally
worth the trip from Orlando to Boston to see them and
I can't think of a better place to see them but in my
home state. Boston fans ROCK!!
One thing I'll never forget is..... The great seats we
had. The opportunity to call my dear friend in
Orlando who was so envious she couldn't go on our trip
because she loves the Eagles and Hotel California is
her all time favorite song! I know the previous
complaints about people and their cell phones, but I
called my friend at the start of Hotel California and
just held up the phone so she could hear the song.
Not only was she major appreciative, it's not every
day your friend let's you listen in "live" from
another state to your favorite tune. I was mindful of
my fellow fans surrounding me and hung up right away
after the song so as not to disturb anyone but
I was so glad to make this contribution to a dear
friend. Ain't technology grand??
Other comments .......The $175.00 per ticket
my husband and I paid was well worth it. I thought
the fans were awesome, there were so few annoyances
that they are not worth mentioning. We went there to
have a good time and we were not disappointed in any
way. I still get chills thinking about how awesome it
was to hear all the fans singing along. And to
briefly admonish the fan that complained about singing
around him, Don Henley and Joe Walsh on more than one
occasion encouraged all to sing along, that's what you
do at a concert! In the famous words of Don Henley
(and my favorite words, personally)--GET OVER IT!!
Yeah, by the way, they didn't play this song!!
