Simon's Review |

We came all the way from England to catch the last
Eagles farewell 1 concert. I hope they play Europe
next summer – or at least some place warmer than Fort
Wayne in October. Last fall we saw Henley in Las
Vegas, and he was awesome, and the boys didn’t
disappoint this time either.
Glenn introduced the concert saying that this was the
60th of 60 gigs in 2003, and apologised in advance
that a cold had travelled into his vocal chords and
that some of the things he would be expected to
perform in the following songs, probably weren’t
possible, but he guessed we all knew the words and
would fill in the gaps. There was no need for the
apology; once again the band was as tight as could be,
with Henley in particular on top form.
The set list was the same as previously described, and
the Fort Wayne audience seemed much more at home with
the early Eagles stuff, really coming to their own
with tracks like, “Already gone”, and “Funk 49”. Don
quipped that we could all go to the bathroom, or get a
beer during “hole in the world”, but not many took up
his invitation, and the song got a really good
reception.
From start to the 3rd or was it 4th encore they were
musically spot on, and the backing musicians turned in
a great performance, with my 8 year old son Duncan
especially impressed with Scott the drummer.
Everyone got up and boogied during “all she wants to
do is dance”, and I really feel sorry for the couple
next to us who seemed to be having such a good time
but left before the final encores. – evidently not
realising it ain’t over ‘till desperado is sung!
The only disappointment was that Joe, who had
performed “life’s been good” plus helmet cam, and
others so superbly never said a word all night,
whereas 2 years ago in Manchester, England he stole
the entire show – what happened.
Great music, great night, - glad to get back to
Chicago from Fort Wayne!

My
favorite part was... not being disappointed!!
My least favorite part was.... Too bad colds were
going around
The band members were..... perfect, appearing to have
a good time.
The show made me feel..... I just had this peaceful,
easy feeling. My cheeks were sore from smiling for
3-1/2 hours
One thing I'll never forget is..... how great it all
sounded. I was actually kinda worried when "Hole in
the World" started because it sounded exactly like the
CD at first.
Other comments Best concert ever. I'll be in line when
it comes to Farewell II and hopefully back in Fort
Wayne!

My favorite part was-Don’s performance of “Sunset
Grill” and “Wasted Time” also JW’S Solo was awesome,
Glenn was good and so was TBS.
My least favorite part was-When we were all pumped
up and they took a break, but for only 10 minutes!
The band members were-Great, although looking worn
out they put a great show on!
The show made me feel-So good when I went to the
show in Chicago on 10/21/03,
we went to the concert again in Fort Wayne in Front
Row seats again. Best View! Although, I think I
caught Glenn’s cold.
One thing I'll never forget is-The chemistry it
seems they have on stage. Also, DH singing “Wasted
Time” and JW’S solo.
Other comments- When they go on tour again, I will
go seem them 3 or 4 times .
They put on a great concert !
Although Glenn’s performance left more to be
desired, I cut him slack because he had a cold so
that’s probably why. He was a lot louder in Chicago.
Also, the crowd in FW wasn’t energetic like the
crowd in Chi-town. In Chicago everyone was standing
and clapping . In FW they
only stood for half the show.

Wayne's Review |

After seeing the band
several times on this tour in several states, we
decided to take in the final two shows in Indiana.
The band is to be commended for the outstanding
shows they delivered on Farewell 1. Indianapolis
was no exception. Glen wasn't feeling well but
carried on. He had a difficult time with his voice
introducing the rest of the band.
Don dedicated "Hole in
the World" to the families of the troops both nights
but in Indy added that the troops in Iraq definitely
had a hole in their world.
In Indy, Timothy
began by referring to his song as a "sappy old love
song." He seemed to be a bit distracted or upset for
some reason but performed the song to perfection.
In Ft. Wayne the band
completed the set pretty much to form. The negative
for Ft. Wayne were the drunks on both sides of us. I
noticed that in Ft. Wayne you could buy 32oz. beers
with apparently no limit. Needless to say, the
drunks ruined most of the last show for us. Better
we had ended in Indy.
There was one negative
in Indy. At the end of the show someone threw a
beer can on to the stage. Don glanced at it and
shook his head.
We are debating what to
do when the band tours again. Do we pay good money
to see our favorite band and put up with all the
obnoxious, immature, rude drunks and people talking
loudly through the shows, or do we stay at home and
listen in peace. We do have to say that not all
venues on the tour allowed endless drinking. About
the talking, we wondered many times during "Lying
Eyes" why the talking idiots were coming to the
show.
The Eagles are great!
Some of our fellow Americans are not so great.

meet them.

Mike's Review |
The guys opened with
Long Run and there was immediate electricity in the
old
coliseum. After the song, Glen had alot to say about
being back in Ft Wayne.
That this was their 60th show in 2003 and last for the
Farewell I tour. He
thanked the guys in the band and said he would see
everyone in a couple of
months.
Glen was showing his illness much more than the night
before in Indy. It
appeared he struggled a bit with some of his tunes.
But he just kept on
playing and kept on singin.
Don had much to say about the new CD and video just
released. In a funny
manner he commented about critics saying they are not
video material, and how
they have ugly belly-buttons, and how they can't dance
- but, that they can
still play and can still sing. Ain't no doubt about
that!
Joe once again was a crowd favorite - Joe Walsh For
President! Play It Joe!
The man is still awesome. The dude directing this show
must have had Joe's
amps turned up to the max (so it appeared) as his
tunes were very loud and
awesome. I liked that. Alot of energy in that guy.
To end this I guess we should thank the guys for going
out on the rode this
year and giving us the opportunity to hear their great
tunes. We can only
hope that 2004 will bring the Farewell II tour so
their tunes will once again
rock places like St Louis, Philadelphia, Vegas,
Columbus, Ohio, Indianapolis,
wherever they may play.
Thanks Glen, Don, Joe, Tim, and the rest of the band.

Sandy's Review |

I can't
seem to come off the high from the concert in Ft.
Wayne and it's been well over a week. I wasn't going
to write a review for fear of sounding like a babbling
idiot but I have to get more sleep and maybe putting
some thoughts on paper will help. I drove from
Indianapolis with my cousin because I had second row
seats. When second row comes up, you find a way to go.
The only disappointment I felt all night was the fact
that the audience was pretty dead at first, at least
in the front section. Most of them didn't even stand
for the beginning of the first song. I mean come on,
this is THE EAGLES for cryinoutloud. It's the last
show of the tour. Show them their due respect and
welcome them or leave the floor seats for people
who will. I'm thinking "OMG, I can't believe this is
happening again" because I was at the Cinci concert
and I thought that that audience was bad
but this one was even worse. I wish I'd had floor
seats to the Indy show because from the rafters it
looked like they were on their feet right from the
start.
As far as the show itself, it was amazing. I
didn't see the commercial at first, they just popped
on stage. Glenn Frye was obviously sick with a cold
but it didn't seem to affect his performance at all.
He still sounded great. He still did his dance on All
She Wants to do is Dance. And he looks so
handsome. He has definitely aged well. Timothy
sounded awesome too. I hope he gets a song or two on
the new CD they are working on. Joe of course got
everyone up on their feet (for a while anyway). At one
point I saw him throw his hands up in the air like he
was having trouble with his guitar but everything
sounded great to these ears. He sang "They write me
letters, tell me Glenn's great"
Mr. Henley is the only performer that I know
of whose voice gets better with age (if that is even
possible to do with his voice). I don't think
recordings do his voice any justice either. He always
sounds even better live. It is indescribable how
hauntingly beautiful Wasted Time and Desperado sound
live. (I'm in danger of idol worship here with this
guy) Of course the other guys voices blend so well
with his and compliment it so much on all of the
songs.
All She Wants to Do is Dance was great fun and
so was Dirty Laundry & Heartache Tonight. Every song
was flawless. I can think of about 15 more I'd love to
hear too. The whole night was magical and I wasn't
going to let the deadbeats around me spoil my fun.
They did get more excited during the second set,
Praise God.
At the end the band sort of all had this look
like you get when you graduate from high school. A lot
of different emotions going on but mainly a happy
"Thank God it's Over" look. Henley especially looked
emotional but then he did the last song alone so I
missed what the others were doing while he was
singing. There was almost some huggin goin on
after Desperado. But they were off the stage quick.
I left feeling like "Life's Been Good to me so
far." Like a preteen with a crush. Haven't felt that
way in a long time. Second row is hard to beat. You
get some eye contact if you are lucky. I also left
hoping that One of These Nights we'd get to do that
again real soon. I can't wait for the new CD to come
out. The drive home flew by with the Eagles blaring
on the CD player. Awesome night. Thanks guys
