My
favorite part was...
In the moments before the show started you could
literally feel the crowd getting restless. Then as the
band stepped onto the stage in the darkness the
audience went crazy and a feeling of pure giddiness
wraps around you as they start to play.
My least favorite part was....
I was a little down when they started to play
Desperado because that meant that the show was over. I
hope to return and see them again whenever they come
back.
The band members were.....
Terrific. They put on a show that will never be
forgotten by the many fans who were there to enjoy the
performance. They were energetic and play as well as
they always have.
The show made me feel.....
The show was a three hour shot of adrenaline. The
atmosphere and the sounds made it an evening to
remember.
One thing I'll never forget is.....
Joe Walsh. Joe is always so entertaining to watch.
He's always jumping around or dancing or making faces
at the crowds and all while playing some awesome riff
which seems effortless to him. It's amazing.
Other comments .......
Eagles concerts are a huge event for me. I did not get
to grow up while the Eagles were in their prime in the
70's. Being sixteen it is sometimes hard to see your
favorite band when they are thirty years old. However
when I learned of their tour last year I knew I had to
go because it was my first time to experience the
Eagles live, which is when they are at their best.
This was my second concert and hopefully not my last,
I anxiously await the release of the new album which I
plan to rush out and buy. So for all those who think
my generation is hopeless, think again.

On Thursday June 12,
2003, I returned to the scene of the crime. Just a
few feet away from the New Orleans Arena is the
Louisiana Superdome, where on July 21, 1994 I became
hooked (on the Eagles, of course). That was then,
the Hell Freezes Over Tour, this is now, the
Farewell I Tour. The band does have one less member
now, since Don Felder's departure in 2001. He's a
fine musician, & I do miss him a little, but his
departure hasn't changed the sound of the band that
much, though his playing is more fluid than Steuart
Smith's. The remaining members are older now, but
they look better, healthier, & happier, for the most
part, than they did in ' 94. I last heard the
Eagles live last summer in Biloxi, & I can't believe
it, but this year's band sounds even better!
The 2003 Eagles are
more relaxed, they laugh more, they DANCE!, they
jump up & down (just a few times), & they sing as if
they've done it all their lives! The sound was
bigger, smoother, louder than it was before. The
solo hits of each artist sound so much better when
played by the Eagles. (my opinion, of course) I
enjoyed hearing more Joe Walsh songs--he really puts
on a show! I noticed a little more rasp in
everyone's voice except Timothy B. Schmit's, but the
songs all sounded just as good as the studio
versions or better. I'd like to hear Timothy sing
more, I'd like to hear The Don & Glenn joke more, &
I'd love to follow them to the next 3-4 concerts
because I didn't hear them quite long enough!
Three hours of Eagles
once a year is just not enough! If you're undecided
about going to an Eagles concert, I suggest you go!
I've never been disappointed. The music is timeless,
of perfect quality, & the crowd really gets into
it! (Except for the one guy who got up 6 times to
replenish & dispose of his beer, but he had fun,
too).
Things I'd have done
differently: I'd have gotten to the show on time & not
missed "The Long Run", I'd have heard them sing
"Victim of Love" "Those Shoes", "Sad Cafe", "On the
Border", & a few more seldom heard songs. I'd have met
some Fastlane folks I later found out were there. I'd
have found a t-shirt for Kay from Atlanta. I'd have
had the cameraman show less Scott Crago (although I
like him) & more Don Henley. I'd have had all cameras
shoot in color all the time instead of one camera
black & white for most of the show. ( I really needed
to see the color of everyone's hair, eyes, clothes,
etc. & I wasn't close enough to see that without the
screens.) I'd have had 1st or 2nd row seats! <VBG>
And my 2 favorite parts of the show: Glenn dancing for
"All she Wants to do is Dance" (Joe too), & Don Henley
saying that they'd been working on the CD for "almost
2 years now, well, not every day!"
I really liked the new background with the videos,
especially on sunset grill, boys of summer, & life in
the fastlane.
Seeing everyone up dancing for the encores & hearing
folks sing along was something I won't forget. The New
Orleans Arena was rockin' from top to bottom! There's
something about a live performance that just can't be
experienced any other way! I'm hooked! I left
with my usual euphoria, & wanting more. Can't wait
for the new CD & Farewell II!
