Dixie Chicks (DC)played from 8pm to 9:15pm, not DC fan
but they sounded OK.
Glenn opened the show with “this is not Farewell 1,
this is RAC benefit concert and Don will tell you more
about it later in the show”.
Before Sunset Grill Don talked about the history of
the song - about the Corporatization of America and
the disappearance of the small businessmen a la the
owner of the Sunset Grill in LA. He then mentioned the
funds for tonite’s concert will allow the RAC to open
an office in DC for lobbying purposes. To counter the
RIAA (Recording Industry Artist Association ?? record
companies lobbying organization)– they are the one
suing everyone according to Don. He doesn’t condone
music piracy but he’s not for suing everyone either.
Don seemed pissed and sang with anger which made his
voice even more powerful than when I saw him in July
in DC this summer.
Before Life’s Been Good Joe said he almost ran for Gov
of CA. He couldn’t do that because they had to do a
show in DC after the election. He asid that now that
Arnold will be busy with his new job Joe will be doing
all future Terminator movies.
Eagles came out at 9:40 and the show ended at midnite.
Don thanked everyone at the end of the show for coming
and said there’ll be more RAC benefit concerts like
this one in the future.
Enjoyed the concert a lot. For $100 (floor seats) it
was a good value compared to the $200 3-hr Farewell 1
show. Tim was great with his one song. The sound
seemed louder than the July concert. Can’t wait for
new CD with new material to come out next year.

The RAC Benefit Concert
was awesome! The crowd enjoyed the Dixie Chicks, but
went wild for the Eagles. The Eagles played for 2
hours and 20 minutes. Glenn Frey told us that this was
not Farewell 1. They played most, but not all of the
songs from the Farewell 1 set list. We didn't hear
"Hole in the World". That was a surprise. The promo
material for Farewell 1 promised renditions of the
songs that were close to the record. The Eagles played
a more frenetic rendition of some of my old favorites
at the RAC Concert. The instrumentals from Joe Walsh
and Stewart Smith were amazing! |

My
favorite part was hearing the sold out MCI center
singing in unison to
EVERY song.
My least favorite part was my seat was virtually
behind the stage.
The band members were still puttin' it out there.
Getting a little older
maybe, but the energy they put into that show was
nothing short of
spectacular. I just can't say enough about Steaurt
Smith, the new guitar
player. Even the original band members seem to glance
over every now and
then just to watch him play.
The show made me feel like I was part of a whole lot
of people who felt
really good about the kind of music the Eagles play.
We all knew the words
and there wasn't a bad vibe in the house.
One thing I'll never forget is the last few songs when
the Dixie Chicks
joined the band up on stage to sing some of their
songs and some Eagles
songs.
Other comments: The purpose of the tour is to raise
money for musical arts
representation in Washington. There is a little speech
in the middle of the
show from Don Henley about this. Evidently, everyone
there agreed with him
on the problem of mega corporations monopolizing
certain industries (like
the music industry) because the reaction to his speech
was very positive.
