I saw the Eagles concert in San Jose's HP Pavilion.
The show was fantastic!!!! The concert started out
somewhat sedately with the ballads. When Don Henley
sang The Boys of Summer, the energy on stage soared.
I was moved by Don's vocals throughout the show. Don
seemed to especially enjoy singing Dirty Laundry.
Joe Walsh's Life's Been Good was a highlight of the
evening. Joe electrified the crowd with this song.
The guitar work throughout the concert was awesome.
Stuart's guitar enhanced the music throughout the
show. He was great!
The Eagles' energy inspired the fans on the floor
where I was sitting. The crowd was dancing and
singing along with each song for most of the show.
Clearly, everyone was enjoying the concert as much as
I was. It felt wonderful to share my enthusiasm for
the Eagles with other fans.
The sound in the arena was clear and crisp. Pictures
of the band were projected to overhead screens. Those
images reflected great camera work and skilled editing
as multiple live images were presented. This concert
was the best technically that I have ever attended.
My only regret for the evening was that the images on
the screen were distorted by the sharp viewing angle I
had sitting in the seventh row. I would have enjoyed
seeing clearer close ups of Don playing the drums
captured by the cameraman on stage with the band. Of
course, I would rather be close to the band than see
the screens.
The microphones were placed very close to the front of
the stage with only a very shallow barrier separating
the seats from the stage. It was an incredible high
to be within 20 feet of the Eagles. This night will
always have special meaning for me.

The Eagles landed at
the San Jose Shark Tank, also known as the HP
Pavilion Center, last night. From the very first
note of The Long Run, to the last chord of
Desperado, the Eagles took their fans on a
fantastic voyage. Don, Glen, Joe, Timothy B., and
Steuart, wanted to bring people together, to give
them a common bond, and they certainly succeeded in
doing that.
Not only with their
timely classics that any Eagle fan would appreciate,
but their 5 part harmony of There's A Hole In
The World, was brilliant. The energy in the
band was felt in the audience as most of us either
swayed, clapped, sang or danced to the beat. WOW,
what a beat! Yes, a lot of us screamed at the end
of each song hardly believing what our ears heard or
our eyes saw.
The Eagles certainly
took this fan on a music high that she will never
forget. I have been a long time fan from their
early years and last nights performance reassured me
that the Eagles are America's band.
They are very
accomplished musicians and their fans are very loyal
and appreciative of their talents. This fan hopes
there is a Farewell IV tour.

Jeroen's Review |
My expectations were
high, and The Eagles did not let me down for a second.
Although I'm not always on the same wavelength with
Henley and Frey, they made a friend for life last
night by allowing Joe Walsh to play so many of his
songs. The first set was a little slow. But "Boys of
Summer" and "Already gone" were signs of bigger and
better things to come.
Everybody in San Jose jumped out of their chairs when
Joe was playing his solo on "Walk Away". Glen Frey did
a great job of singing "Take it to the limit". The San
Jose crowd is usually very enthusiastic and
responsive. There was even cheering and applause in
the middle of a quiet song like "wasted time".
Everybody sang loudly along with the classics: "Take
it easy", "Lying eyes" and especially "Heartache
tonight."
The highlight of the evening was "Turn to stone",
normally already a great song, but Joe's solo was
amazing!! The camera zoomed in on his hands while
playing the solo and you could almost see the smoke
coming from the fretboard. It was one of those moments
that you will talk about with your friends even in
years from now.
Joe stole everybody's heart when he was goofin' around
with his helmet cam. A funny feature of the video
screen above the stage was that the text "HE'S COOL"
showed in huge capitols during "Life's been good" at
the moment these words were sung by the Eagles. Then
Funk #49 and Rocky Mountain Way, came by. It was the
closest thing to a real Joe Walsh concert. Tell me who
can play like he does??
Henley's "Dirty Laundry" was a great song. He did that
very well. Stuart hit all the notes spot on. He did a
good job. The Eagles really went all out and
entertained us from 8 till midnight. You could tell
they all had fun, even after 43 shows this year, and
even after 30 years of performing. Hats off!

I saw the show in San
Jose, and it was awesome! I've been to my fair share
of concerts in my life, but this was by far the best.
I have always wanted to see the Eagles live, and I was
not disappointed. Joe Walsh rocks! In the first half
of the show, Joe was kind of in the background. But
when he started singing his songs and playing more of
the leads on guitar, the show took on another life. I
must have watched the MTV special of the Hell Freezes
Over concert a hundred times, and I formed the opinion
that the Eagles age had slowed them down a little. But
after seeing them live, I know now that is not true.
They put on one heck of a show. It's hard to fault
their song selections, because everything they have
done is so great (besides Get Over It). I would have
loved to hear Those Shoes, but otherwise they were
right on. I can't wait to go to Farewell II. |

I saw the show in... San
Jose. My
favorite part was... Another night of amazing vocals
from Don Henley and amazing everything from Joe Walsh,
who brought the house down with "Life's Been Good" and
"Turn The Stone." He got the night's biggest laugh
when he slurred "I think I'd be a good governor." I
can't help but notice how much the other band members
gets into playing Walsh's tunes. Surprisingly, I
barely missed Felder at all. Maybe just a touch on
"Hotel California." But overall Steuert Smith is every
bit his equal. "Hole In The World" sounded GREAT live;
like many of their earlier classics, it just keeps
sounding better the more you hear it. Henley was
awe-inspiring with his vocals on "Wasted Time" and
"Desperado." Unbelievable.
My least favorite
part was.... They quit selling beer way too early.
The band members
were..... Happy, playful, in good humor and sounding
better than they did 25 years ago.
The show made me feel..... like there is still power
in classic rock and a great place for it.
One thing I'll never
forget is..... Don leaning on Joe's shoulder during
the opening number and Joe quickly glancing at him,
pretending to be surprised beyond belief.
Other comments .......Can't wait for Farewell
II/III/IV/L!

Eric's Review |
As an Eagles fan
for the past 20 years, Friday night's show in San Jose
was clearly a show for the fans. As Glen said after
the first song, "you paid so we're playing." To have
these guys perform for over 2 hours was definitely
worth the price of admission.
The sound was very clear as we were seated in the back
rows and could hear every note and all the vocal
harmonies. Even the wide screen display, which was
like watching a movie in director's cut, really
brought those of us in the nose-bleed seats into the
show.
The choice of songs was a nice variety of old vs.
newer Eagles. I was really surprised to hear one of my
favorites, Take It to the Limit, because it belongs to
Meisner....but they pulled it out.
The highlight of the show was Joe Walsh. As much as I
love hearing Glen and Don sing their contributions to
the Eagles library of tunes, Joe seems to somehow
still have the magic and conviction in his vocal
delivery. Frey and Henley kind of swing through their
tunes giving a almost lounge-like performance. But Joe
is the real deal. He's the X-factor and you never know
what's coming around the corner. I wouldn't see the
Eagles without him.
And to be honest, while Stuart's playing was
great...the show would have been that much better with
Don Felder. Sure Stuart knew the riffs, but he didn't
play pedal steel or mandolin like Felder did on the
Hell Freezes Over tour. Stuart got the job done and
nothing more.
I'd say the worst part of the night was the high
volume of the horn section and the amount of solo
career stuff we had to sit through. This was an Eagles
show guys....not a "look what I did on my own" show.
Certainly there's enough Eagles material to fill out
the show. And if this truly is a farewell tour, I want
to bid farewell to great Eagles tunes, not Boys of the
Summer.
Overall the show got a B for good, but not excellent.
Hope to see Farewell II with an all Eagles line-up.
