I saw the show in... St. Paul, at the Xcel Center. It
was only my second concert, ( I saw them at Milwaukee
Summerfest last year) so I don't have a lot to compare
things to. But, I spent the extra $ to get floor
seats, (row 5 left side of stage) and I'll never watch
them from afar again! To actually see their faces and
watch them perform was amazing.
My favorite part was... meeting my "new best friend"
Karen, the enthusiastic fan in the seat next to me.
It's great to sit (ok, so we stood up all night) next
to someone as excited as you are.
My least favorite part was.... these creaky old bones
telling me they didn't like standing on that hard
concrete for three hours!
The band members were..... Glen seemed to be
struggling during parts of his solos. It was like his
throat was bothering him or something. My gosh can
those old guys rock!
The show made me feel..... young again!
One thing I'll never forget is..... being able to
watch my favorite Eagle up close and personal.(Ok, so
there were thousands of others there too, give me a
break)
Other comments ....... I'm heading out to Green Bay in
a couple of hours. Then on to Madison on Monday. Then,
I'll have something to compare things to!
Respectfully submitted by: Sheila (no longer out of
Luck) B

Judy's Review |
OMG!! Don was totally amazing Friday night at the XCel
Center in St. Paul. I mean it-he was awesome!! His
voice was crystal clear & velvety smooth & sweet & he
hit every tortured note perfectly. His voice remained
crystal clear & velvety all night & he just belted
them out!
The doors opened at 7:00. They started about 8:20. I
went & got my program (it's very nice) & a tee-shirt.
They had bags to put your merchandise in with the Very
Best of cover in color, with the street date on the
bottom. I got something to drink & went in & sat down.
We were in the 17th row, right side floor. I watched
Scott Crago bring a bunch of people out, who got to
sit behind the drum kit. Those lucky, lucky people.
They were taking pictures of each other & one woman
got a picture of Scott & some guy. He came out with a
couple other people a little later & there was more
personal picture taking behind the drum kit.
As soon as Don started singing Long Run, the audience
was on their feet. He had us in the palm of his hand
all night. And as I said, his voice was crystal clear
& velvety smooth. Not at all raspy (not that there's
anything wrong with that! :-) ), & not at all tight
like he can sometimes be on a first song. It was like
we jumped into the middle of a concert. Wasted Time
was just beautiful. Don was "on" last night & it was
perfect. He deserved every gasp & sigh & "Oh my God"
(did that come out of me?) he got. Hole in the World
was a big hit and there were lots of people singing
along to the whole song, not just the chorus. I was
able to see Timothy & Don pretty much all the time on
stage. I like to watch Timothy dance and sing & Don
sing. Joe had on army camouflage pants & I don't
remember what color shirt & a guitar strap that said
"police line do not cross." Glenn had on a brown suit
& very pretty blue shirt. From the looks of the latest
pictures, Tim & Don dressed about the same at our show
as at previous ones. At the end of the first set, Tim
went over to the edge of the stage & shook some hands.
As the second set was more rock, the audience
continued to stand through the end of the night. Lots
of singing along again. The crowd was really getting
into Joe & my 60 year old sister was getting into Tim
"struttin' his stuff", as she put it! Don turned the
microphone to the audience during All She Wants to Do
is Dance & also on Desperado for "You better let
somebody love you" --before he showed off how long he
could hold the " lo-o-o-o-o-o-o-ve yo-oo". After they
took their bow & turned & waved good-bye to everybody,
Tim came back from the left edge of the stage where
they had been blowing them kisses earlier & shook
hands again & threw a bunch of picks out toward the
area he was shaking hands in.
I have to say this was the best performed & most
enjoyable Eagles concert I've been to. I was on my
feet all night long. They just couldn't have been any
better. My favorite thing was Don's singing being the
best I've ever heard (and the people around us
blurting out all night how great his voice was) & my
sister enjoyed herself as much as I did. Plus it was
an all around, better than you could hope for, tight &
energetic & great performance by everyone. Even though
I didn't say much about the other guys, they were
great, too. But, sorry, I am one of the ones that
would rather hear Glenn sing something other than You
Belong to the City. My least favorite thing is that I
haven't seen them sing Best of My Love live, in my
presence, since 1976. And I would like to see them do
Last Resort. I probably wouldn't have picked that set
list, but since it turned out to be my favorite
concert, who am I to judge? I can't wait for the new
CD, and the other new CD & the next concert. I wish
the rest of you as great a time as we had at the
concert! Judy |

Keith's Review |
I
attended the the Eagles event at the Xcell Energy
Center in St. Paul. I was tempted to write my review
right away but chose to wait several days to let
some thoughts formulate.
This
is my second time seeing the Eagles. The first was
74 or 75 and at that time I beleive they only had a
few albums out. The seventies are still a bit
blurry.
They
have definitely matured since then as has their
voices. Their harmonizing is still fantastic. I
remember reading in the Rolling Stone years ago a
quote that still holds true today.
"The
Eagles have the best oohhhs and aahhs in the
business". Glenn did struggle a bit with some of the
higher octaves as he would take a half step back and
turn his head from the microphone. This was most
notable during the rendition of "One of These
Nights"
But
this did not distract from the overall absolute
quality and professional musicanship on display on
the stage that night.
I
was glad they all performed some of their solo
works. I felt Glenns "You Belong to the City" was
excellent. And of Course Henley's "Dirty Laundry"
and "Boys of Summer" was fantastic.
I
personnaly would have changed the play list a bit.
Joe Walsh as great as he is I felt had a bit too
much leverage on the music. With all the great
Eagles material that never made it to the stage that
night I would not have picked Rocky Mountain Way as
one of the encore tunes. It did border closely on
being a Joe Walsh and the Eagles concert.
I
was fortunate enough to be seated 12 rows up stage
right. The view was excellent as was the sound. From
my vantage point I could see the only way I would
want to be on the floor would be the first row. I
could see people twisting their necks and jumping up
trying to get a view over the people standing in
front of them. I could remain comfortably seated and
soak in all the sights and sounds.
As
the last note drifted away and they were waving at
the crowd I hollered out "I got another hundred and
fifty bucks if you got another three hours" which
did get Joe Walsh who was at our end of the stage
look up! But he didn't take me up on it.
