Family Affair

This is the episode where Glenn's rock star-ness shines through Cody. A young girl drops by Cody's agency and wants help locating her real father. He's sent her jewels and postcards every year on her birthday. She's convinced that her mom has lied to her about who her dad really is.

Gina also lays something heavy on Cody. Her mom is coming into town and she doesn't want to deal with all the "when are you going to settle down" questions, so she wants Cody to pretend to be her boyfriend. This leads to a couple of amusing vignette's--especially when Cody doesn't show up for a "date" with Gina and her mom. Gina gives him "what for" in front of her mom.

Meanwhile, Cody has discovered that Maya's (that's the girl) mom used to be a session singer during the '70s. She's worked with all the big names. Cody talks to some producers and other singers to try to track down the "mystery man" in her past. He even goes undercover as "Irving Geffington" to get some dirt.

Well, he eventually tracks down Maya's biological dad. He's a jewel thief! Cody helps catch him. Maya thinks it's terribly exciting that her real dad isn't all boring. She thinks he's like Cary Grant or something. Well, Cody takes care of that. He yells at the "real" dad. Tells him that he should just walk away from Maya. That "Cary Grant is just a guy they made up for the movies". The guy takes Cody's advice to heart and denies to Maya that she is his daughter.

Time for another heartwarming closing. Maya's dad (not the jewel thief) confesses how he stepped in and took care of her mom when the other guy left. That he's always loved both of them.

Cody then goes home and gives his dad a call. Meanwhile, Gina's mom confesses that she knew that Gina and Cody were only pretending to be involved and that she loves Gina no matter what.
