Paper Boy
This
is probably the most serious of the episodes. A young
man is killed by a cop under suspicious circumstances.
His parents want to know why because he was a good
kid. They hire Cody to find out.
Cody and Ziggy meet the cop charged with the shooting
and his attractive partner. Ziggy takes quite a shine
to her. They do some poking around. They talk to a
homeless guy. Cody chases Ziggy to check out the cop's
story about how he chased the kid. Meanwhile, Ziggy
takes the pretty cop out to dinner.
Cody needs more info, though and gets a tip. There's a
kid he can talk to. Seems the kid is part of a drug
selling ring that the dead kid was also involved in.
Cody tries to find him and embarrasses himself trying
to play basketball with a bunch of street-teens. (good
thing he took off his lucky headband).
Cody finally hooks up with the kid, but gets arrested
because the cops think he's buying drugs. Cody gets
sent to jail. Ziggy tries to bail out the kid who has
also been arrested, but he's too late. He leaves jail
just in time to see the kid getting in a mysterious
car. He chases the car. He gets shot at!
Because it's close by, he ends up at the lady cop's
house. While she's getting him some water, he looks
out the window and sees.....GASP....the same car he
was chasing. He freaks. She tries to kill him. But,
just in time, Cody, who has figured everything out,
bursts in and saves the day. This lady cop was selling
drugs on the side. It turns out she shot the original
kid because he was fixing to leave the business and
return to his parents.
We learn an important lesson about getting along.
