Introduction:

I’m standing here in front of one of the most luxury hotels along the Amstel (The Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam) and I have an appointment with one of The Eagles, Timothy B. Schmit. Yes, I know, he is not the most well known of the four. He joined The Eagles in 1977, they already had their biggest hits by then and in 1980 they split up. They said “We will reunite when Hell Freezes Over”. Nevertheless, that reunion did come and HFO became the best-selling dvd ever. And now there is the release of a new DVD called “Farewell I, Live in Melbourne”.

Hotel California is playing

Timothy and HenkJan are sitting at the hotel-terrace along the Amstel….

HenkJan: Why is it called the Farewell I tour?

Timothy: It’s just sort of a tongue in cheek. It’s almost a joke. A lot of our contemporaries are
starting to make their Farewell tours but they never say goodbye. So we just named
ours and we numbered ours.

HenkJan: Is it still fun to be on the road?

Timothy: I enjoy it. It’s not fun like it used to be.

HenkJan: Boozing , drugs, women.

Timothy: Yeah

HenkJan: That’s all history?

Timothy: Well, we are all older, we all have families and we all pretty much live in daylight
hours now. So, it’s different but I can’t….it’s not…..it’s still enjoyable to me.

Playing I Can’t Tell You Why.

HenkJan: In the time that The Eagles split, before…uh… you did a lot of solo stuff.
Don, Glenn and Joe play their solo stuff during the tour. It’s even on the dvd.

Timothy: Yeah

HenkJan: Non of your material is on the dvd?

Timothy: Yeah, I know uuuh ....I don’t even know how to answer that. I mean, i think most of
my stuff didn’t really eeeh….wasn’t really on the radio that much.

Playing Boys of Summer

HenkJan: I see a lot of pretty girls and attractive women in your audience. Are they hired
especially for the dvd to sit in the front?

Tim’s laughing (really naughty)

Timothy: Not that I know of.

HenkJan: Be honest.

Timothy: If that was happening I knew nothing about it (still that naughty smile).
No, we have a really great variety of people including beautiful young women who
come to see us.

HenkJan: I know the Rolling Stones worked that way, so…..

Timothy: I certainly uuuh….I never knew of people being hired to sit in front, no (still
laughing)

Playing New Kid in Town

HenkJan: The DVD is called the Farewell I tour, can we still expect a studio album of The
Eagles?

Timothy: Uuuuu……I honestly don’t know (laughing). We have worked on and off on a
studio album for uuuh…over a couple of years now. And uuuh….It seems to
always get stalled at a certain point. I’m not really clear as to why that is, honestly
uuuh…there are distractions in our life, we go away and then we come back for a
while. I personally wish and hope that we can complete it. I think that it will be
good for us and for our audience. Hopefully that will happen.
